HOW YOUR ROLE FITS INTO BOLDT: As a Site Construction Manager for The Boldt Company, you will lead the full construction lifecycle of large scale and complex mission-critical data center projects in partnership with the project teams, craft labor and trade partners. This role provides strategic direction for planning, coordination, sequencing, and site logistics specific to high-density, complex, and high-redundancy environments. As the senior field leader, the Site Construction Manager oversees all day-to-day jobsite operations—including personnel, production, scheduling, safety, quality and commissioning readiness—to ensure delivery of a fully functional, compliant, and on-schedule data center facility. You will set the culture and tone through accountability, mentoring, , and continuously ensuring the success of our project teams. WHAT YOU GET TO DO (Essential Functions): Field OperationsReview project schedules with Superintendents/Foreman. Ensure that critical activities and decisions remain on task and that Required on Job (ROJ) dates are provided to the project management team.Document project field issues that impact budget, quality or schedule, and elevate to the Project Manager and Field Operations/Self-Perform leadershipRespond to subcontractor requests for field issues that impact budget, quality or schedule.Support the project team and field leadership in the development of logistics plans and schedules during pre-construction and early project activities.Manage quality control for all critical-path systems, including white space, mechanical yards, electrical rooms, and equipment startups.Direct daily field operations, including trade sequencing, manpower planning, and site utilization tailored to large scale and complex data center project constraints.Manage heavy equipment logistics (cranes, rigging, delivery coordination for large electrical/mechanical equipment).Provide oversite during the development of CPM schedules, including short-interval look-ahead schedules for critical-path MEP and commissioning activities.Track progress against milestones such as energization, mechanical completion, commissioning levels, and substantial completion.Create and maintain phased Job Site Utilization Plans throughout the project lifecycle with specific focus to construction, commissioning, turnover and joint occupancy.Conduct preconstruction meetings with subcontractors after each major phase (Mass Grading, Site Infrastructure, Foundations & Structure, Architectural Finishes, MEP rough-in, Equipment Set, MEP terms & Finishes, Start-up & Energization, all levels of Commissioning, etc.).Support the permit process and ensure compliance with local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).Support our superintendents to monitor all job-site document controls including daily reports, QA/QC checklists, productivity tracking, punch lists, schedule updates, payroll, quantity reporting, accident and incident reports, timesheets, RFIs and field issues or changes.Help our superintendents to identify potential budget problems and work with the team to develop contingency plans and other measures to control or successfully manage these; and to ensure any outstanding testing and inspection issues are resolved and complete.Implement Boldt Production System (BPS) planning. Lead and facilitate BPS meetings as needed.Encourage a culture of Continuous Improvement for each project. People LeadershipCreate a project culture that empowers everyone involved in the project; lead the development of a high-performance project team through supervision, training, coaching and mentoring; demonstrate the Boldt virtues of Hungry, Humble and Smart. Mentor the team and support management succession with the goal of identifying dedicated future managers and promoting their continued personal and professional education and growth.Develop cohesive teams to shape the way our work will be accomplished by trade partners, self-perform teams and other parties involved in the project consistent with construction and contract documents, the project team’s plans, and established schedules.Work with our Field Operations and Self-Perform teams to educate our superintendents in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.), complaints, and grievances within the workforce as required and with the necessary documentation.Assist and train our superintendents on plan development including project staffing plans, major equipment plans, master schedules, collaborating with project owner, project management, and subcontractors as required. Ensure that staffing and equipment plans match original estimates.Actively work with Field Operations and Self-Perform in selection of the Superintendent, General Foreman, and Foreman for specific project scopes and help recruit staff as needed.Work with Labor Relations to implement all policies and procedures at site. Participate in local Building Trades pre-jobs including for trade partners. Administer any Project Labor Agreements or Collective Bargaining Agreements, and union trades meetings at site and elevate any jurisdictional disputes and union grievances to Labor Relations and Field Operations.Build strong working relationships with customers, designers, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.Participate in project kickoff meetings. Evaluate and assist in selecting and supervising our subcontractors.Lead the project team to maintain a clear perspective and focus on the project outcome, review performance and development of the team against position responsibilities and established goals.Help implement operational training programs and provide ongoing coaching to ensure alignment with enterprise training objectives. Safety:Assist Superintendents with ensuring all on-site activities are carried out in accordance with Boldt’s safety program and applicable OSHA (state and federal) regulations to meet our strategic goal of ZERO incidents. Champion our Safety Rules. Monitor and maintain a safety program including documenting and correcting unsafe work practices and work hazards.Support and enforce any owner Site-Specific Safety programs and OSHA compliance for employees and trade partners.Assist in the development of the Site-Specific Safety and Quality Plans. Help lead the engagement for the entire project team in finishing the plans and follow up on execution and accountability for the plans.Refuse unsafe work and ensure all activities follow established safety procedures.Embrace safety with a “we care” mentality with the goal that everyone will go home to their family the same way they came to work.Engage in lifelong learning around how we can improve our project day-to-day safety activities. Cost:Work with our Project Management Team to analyze and control expenditures to conform to our project target budget requirements.Participate in recommendations and approval of budgets and expenditures and implement ways to improve operational efficiencies.Collaborate with the Project Management Team on providing timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the project both internally and externally; continuously review operating performance against plans and prior periods, including current progress towards the project target, current production, forecast cost to completion, contracting status, operating expenses, cash flow management, and profitability. Risk:Provide input on detailed contract item lists including all significant items required for the construction of the project. Review trade scope of work documents for bid packages, major material, and equipment purchases.Ensure compliance and execution of trade partner scopes of work via completed subcontracts and purchase orders.Consult with risk management including identification, analysis, response planning and monitoring/ controls on the project. Demonstrate awareness in understanding our project controls processes and take corrective actions when necessary. WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:Four-year bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field. An equivalent combination of a high school degree with training and/or experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Minimum of fifteen years’ industry and supervisory experience in hyperscale data center and/or Mission Critical construction technology, methods, equipment, tools and work procedures is required.Expert understanding of construction sequencing, planning, scheduling and cost control for mission-critical environments is essential.Demonstrated understanding of craft jurisdiction and working under collective bargaining agreements.Understanding of a wide variety of building systems including but not limited to structural steel, metal deck, cast in place concrete systems and shoring, wood and metal framing, chilled water systems, HVAC systems, plumbing systems, emergency power and electrical systems, high and medium voltage, specialty systems, etc.Demonstrate excellence as a construction leader securing trust and confidence of team, inspectors, subcontractors, and clients.Ability to mentor and train high performing teams on complex projects through project lifecycle.OSHA 30 certification is .A valid driver’s license is required. The anticipated salary range for this position is $159,700 - 217,233 per year. This range represents what The Boldt Company reasonably expects to pay for this position nationally. Actual compensation offered will be dependent upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to: candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, alignment with market data and internal equity as well as other business and organizational needs. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out at project sites across the US, based out of our Waukesha WI office.
