Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and safety-focused Site Energization Marshal to support energization activities on active construction sites. This role is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and helping control the safe energization of electrical systems and equipment during construction, commissioning, and turnover phases. The Site Energization Marshal plays a critical role in ensuring site personnel follow approved energization procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, safety protocols, and project-specific standards.
This is a field-based construction position requiring daily presence on active job sites. The ideal candidate has strong experience in electrical safety, energization planning, site coordination, and mission critical or large-scale construction environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and coordinate site energization activities to ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support the implementation and enforcement of site energization protocols, boundaries, and access controls.
- Verify systems, equipment, and areas are ready for energization in coordination with construction, commissioning, and safety teams.
- Monitor compliance with electrical safety requirements, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash protection, and restricted access procedures.
- Serve as a point of coordination between subcontractors, field teams, commissioning personnel, and site leadership during energization events.
- Review energization plans, switching procedures, method statements, and permits prior to execution.
- Confirm signage, barricades, notifications, and hazard communications are in place before energization begins.
- Track energization status of equipment and systems and maintain accurate documentation of energization activities.
- Identify potential risks, conflicts, or unsafe conditions and escalate concerns immediately to site leadership.
- Participate in pre-energization meetings, safety briefings, and coordination meetings with project stakeholders.
- Help ensure only authorized personnel are present in designated energization zones.
- Support incident prevention by enforcing site safety expectations and stopping work when unsafe conditions are identified.
- Maintain regular communication with project management, EHS, commissioning teams, and trade partners regarding energization schedules and status updates.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in electrical construction, commissioning, energization, or site safety roles.
- Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and energization protocols.
- Experience working on active construction sites, preferably in data centers, mission critical, industrial, or large commercial projects.
- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical drawings, switching procedures, and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of energized work hazards, arc flash boundaries, and restricted access controls.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with the ability to work across multiple teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Ability to identify safety risks and take proactive action to prevent incidents.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other relevant safety standards .
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical training, trade certification, or associate degree in electrical, construction management, safety, or related field .
- Minimum of 35 years of experience in electrical construction, commissioning, energization, or mission critical environments .
- Prior experience supporting energization of electrical distribution systems is highly .
Note- This is a remote position with onsite travel to project locations.
