Smart Factory Engineer

Location: Birstall, West Yorkshire (On-Site Role)

Reporting to: Technical Manager

\n\n What We’re Looking For:\n

    \n
  • Experienced in controls, automation, IT/OT, systems, or MES Engineering, with a strong background in PLCs (preferably Rockwell), factory SCADA systems, and MES (Manufacturing Execution System).

  • \n

  • Solid project management experience from concept to validation.

  • \n

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

  • \n

  • Ability to thrive in a high-performance culture and collaborate closely with multiple stakeholders.

  • \n

  • Proficient in SQL for database queries, scripting, and understanding IT infrastructure.

  • \n

  • Good understanding of lean principles and key losses within manufacturing.

  • \n

  • Previous involvement in a digital transformation rollout is a plus!

  • \n

\n\n Your Key Responsibilities:\n

    \n
  • Connect factory control systems, sensors, and ERP/MES systems for real-time data monitoring, analytics, and automation.

  • \n

  • Utilize data analytics to identify bottlenecks and enhance yield and quality through lean or Six Sigma methodologies.

  • \n

  • Execute testing and deployment of new solutions to provide advanced process control, including Machine Learning algorithms and Machine Vision applications.

  • \n

  • Support the design of digital standards within the Center of Excellence (COE) with input from the local site.

  • \n

  • Project manage digital infrastructure extension projects with local teams (e.g., Wi-Fi network extension, digital tool additions).

  • \n

  • Collaborate with operations, IT, industrial engineering, and reliability teams to drive change management.

  • \n

  • Actively participate in regional and global forums for benchmarking and reapplication.

  • \n

  • Bring fresh insights by constantly scanning for best practices in the industry.
