About the Position:
The Senior Director, Quality and Commissioning is responsible for overseeing the quality control / quality assurance and commissioning processes for data center projects, ensuring exceptional customer experience and operational excellence. This role works closely with the Design, Construction, and Operations teams to drive successful mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) coordination, uphold Cologix’s quality standards, and deliver projects that meet client expectations and industry benchmarks.What you do daily:

  • Oversee the development, review, and implementation of project-specific quality and commissioning plans, ensuring alignment with Cologix’s operational and customer experience standards.
  • Lead MEP coordination efforts for data center projects, collaborating with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and third-party commissioning agents to ensure seamless integration of systems.
  • Execute procurement strategies for quality and commissioning services, including soliciting, reviewing, and recommending third-party personnel for project assignments.
  • Conduct regular quality audits and inspections to ensure consistency, compliance with building codes, and adherence to Cologix’s design and construction standards.
  • Manage relationships with internal teams, external consultants, vendors, and commissioning agents to maintain project alignment and quality across Cologix’s portfolio.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in quality assurance and commissioning, offering technical guidance to project teams and ensuring high-performance outcomes.
  • Train third-party personnel, including commissioning managers and MEP coordinators, on Cologix’s quality and commissioning programs to foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Monitor project progress, attend construction meetings, and provide regular data-driven status reports to management, highlighting successes, challenges, and action plans.
  • Manage change orders, RFIs, and project documentation related to QAQC/Cx, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution to maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Collaborate with the Business Strategy group as needed to support business cases for prospective projects, including schedule and data hall turn turnover projections.
  • Ensure all MEP and low voltage systems subcontractors are compliant with relevant codes, standards, and Cologix policies, prioritizing safety and security.
  • Work closely with the contractor’s commissioning team members to coordinate vendor and contractor activities, ensuring successful project turnover to customers.
  • Develop and implement innovative quality and commissioning processes, standards, specifications and templates to ensure efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Mitigate project risks through proactive planning, problem-solving, and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with corporate executives to communicate project status, strategic initiatives, and quality metrics, supporting Cologix’s growth objectives.

What Makes You a Good Fit:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field. Extensive relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in mission-critical construction, with at least 5 years directly involved in data center quality assurance and commissioning.
  • Strong working knowledge of data center design and MEP systems across various North American geographies.
  • Proven ability to analyze and evaluate construction documents, including drawings, specifications, contracts and Cx scripts.
  • Proficiency in project management platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, Cx platforms, and financial management platforms.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and team-building skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and external partners. 
  • Proven ability to manage projects as the Owner and/or Owner’s representative, understanding the responsibilities related to delivery of a successful project to ensure customer schedules are met.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel to support project and team needs, with a focus on key markets.
