Join us to do the best work of your career as an Senior Electrical Designer, who has some desire to work in medium voltage, power , renewable , district heating, data centers and heavy industrial projects to join our specialized Power group in our beautiful Boston, MA office, which is located in the Seaport District.
Every Vanderweil Engineers team member brings something unique to the table. Here is what we are looking for with this role under the direction of an Electrical Designer:
- Will learn design of campus electrical grids serving industrial manufacturing sites, district utility providers, and college/university electrical distribution systems.
- Will perform and coordinate designs of power facilities, battery storage facilities, renewable , utility grid interconnections, switchgear and substations, generators, and power distribution network using AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM360 or other Computer Aided Design Tools.
- Support electrical designs and deliverables for power engineering, cogeneration power plants, chiller plants, renewables and large industrial projects. Experience designing utility substations a plus.
- Able to work in a technical team and deliver design for various clients.
- Learn how to maintain workloads, and technical issues. Work as a self-starter and independent as well as within a team environment.
- Coordinate layout of equipment and routing of piping, ductwork, electrical and other miscellaneous components with other disciplines and models
- Act as a technical resource for other team members on use of Revit and BIM software
Essential Skills & Requirements:
- Ability to understand IEEE, IBC, NESC, and NEC electrical codes and knowledge of industry products and design solutions.
- 10+ years of computer aided drafting and design in Revit, and BIM360.
- Ideal candidate would have similar Power system design experience in an A/E consulting environment with Switchgear, transfer switches, generators, battery systems, variable frequency drives, motors, etc.
- Proficient in creating Revit content, model set-up and workflows
- Experience with Navisworks and BIM360 Cloud Collaboration is a plus
- Ability to learn new software programs and tools
- Ability to work with design software calculation tools such as AGI-32, DIA Lux, or Visual for lighting power density a plus.
- Microsoft Office experience, Word, Excel.
- Strong analytical ability
- Associate degree or equivalent from a vocational training program or technical school

This is a high visibility role and the total compensation that we expect to pay for this position is dependent on years of experience, licensure, education, geographic location, and project portfolio but expected to be in the $90,000 to $125,000 range.
