Our client, a well-established and growing public company headquartered in Houston, is looking for a Sr. Network Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing and enhancing our digital network systems, focusing on security, scalability, and reliability. Your expertise in cutting-edge networking technologies will contribute to the seamless operation of our digital infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Network Engineer, your primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Design and implement robust network solutions:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and improve the network infrastructure.
- Develop and deploy advanced network configurations to ensure high availability and fault tolerance.
- Employ industry-leading cybersecurity practices to safeguard our digital ecosystem.
Manage network operations:
- Monitor and proactively manage the network infrastructure for optimal performance and capacity.
- Conduct regular maintenance activities and implement system upgrades.
- Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to investigate and respond to security incidents.
Project leadership and documentation:
- Lead network projects aimed at enhancing fault tolerance, scalability, and cybersecurity.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation including Standard Operating Procedures, workflows, and inventories.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements, assisting in the development of strategic roadmaps.
Vendor management and operational efficiency:
- Analyze vendors and contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with contracted services for project management and maintain positive vendor relationships.
Compliance and auditing:
- Provide necessary reports, logs, and evidence for compliance audits.
- Assist with disaster recovery and business continuity planning and testing.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Relevant Certifications: Hold professional certifications such as Cisco CCNP or equivalent experience, Azure or similar cloud network specialization, and network security certifications (e.g., PCNSE, NSE 4+, Security+, CEH).
- Education and Experience: Possess a bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent experience, along with 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN/WLAN environments, particularly in global 24x7 settings. Demonstrated hands-on experience with cloud platforms like Azure is .
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Cisco switching and routing protocols, cloud networking, SD-WAN technologies, and network security methodologies. Palo Alto experience is desired.
