We are entering a new phase for Alexa and Devices.

The visual , interaction architecture, and systemic foundations of the platform are being rebuilt across a massive deployed global ecosystem — Echo, Fire TV, tablets, multimodal surfaces, and emerging device categories.

AI is changing how interfaces behave, interfaces are no longer static compositions. Systems must assemble, adapt, and respond dynamically. This shift requires motion to become the behavioral layer of intelligent systems.

We are building a new motion and expression system that will define how generative interfaces behave across the Alexa ecosystem.

Opportunities like this are rare. Most roles of this magnitude offer one of two things: the scale of an established platform—where the core is already defined and the work is largely about extending it—or the freedom to author something new within a much smaller ecosystem. This one offers both.

You will define how generative systems express themselves across one of the largest deployed global device ecosystems in the world.

We are looking for a design leader to define and lead motion systems for Alexa and Amazon Devices.

Alexa is evolving from a command-driven interface into an intelligent, generative system. As experiences become adaptive and interfaces assemble dynamically in response to context, motion becomes essential to maintaining clarity, continuity, and coherence.

You will lead the definition of the motion framework that powers generative interfaces across the platform. Your work will shape how adaptive interfaces compose, transition, and respond in real time across devices.

This role combines systems architecture, design leadership, and hands-on craft.

Key job responsibilities
What You Will Lead

Motion System Architecture
Define the motion grammar of the Alexa ecosystem.
• Establish principles governing motion, timing, spatial transformation, and behavioral feedback.
• Design motion frameworks that support generative and adaptive interfaces.
• Ensure coherence across devices, modalities, and interaction contexts.
• Translate motion principles into scalable system primitives and engineering frameworks.

Generative System Expression
Define how intelligence expresses itself in motion.
• Design behavioral patterns for AI-driven and adaptive UI.
• Shape transitions, state changes, and system responses under dynamic conditions.
• Establish motion as the connective tissue between generative layout, interaction, and state.

Platform Integration
Work across design and engineering to embed motion deeply into the platform.
• Partner with platform and ML teams to integrate motion with generative UI systems.
• Ensure motion frameworks are performant and scalable across device classes.
• Define standards that product teams can adopt consistently.

Craft Leadership
You may lead a team responsible for motion and behavioral systems across Alexa and Devices.
This is a hands-on leadership role. We are looking for a master practitioner who leads through the work itself.

You will guide the team’s direction, mentor designers, and establish standards — while remaining deeply engaged in defining the system. That means authoring key principles, prototyping new ideas, and working directly with engineers to bring novel motion capabilities into the platform. You will set the bar through practice. Your work will help define the motion foundations others build upon.

A day in the life
• Define the behavioral model for how generative UI elements assemble and transition.
• Review motion prototypes exploring adaptive layouts across device classes.
• Work with engineering to translate motion primitives into platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with visual systems teams to ensure coherence across interaction, layout, and motion.
• Mentor designers working on motion patterns across the Alexa ecosystem.
• Prototype new approaches to motion-driven interaction in generative interfaces.
