Sr. Project Manager

Job Description

Position Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for managing commercial and data center infrastructure projects from pre-construction through close-out. This role oversees budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, quality assurance, and client communication to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The ideal candidate has strong structured cabling experience, data center exposure, and the ability to lead teams in fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Project

• Participate in the RFP process, performing detailed reviews of plans, specifications, and bid documents

• Review contracts and work orders for accuracy, scope, and change validation

• Build and maintain strong client relationships to secure repeat and expanded business opportunities

Project Start-Up

• Serve as the primary client contact to define scope, schedules, and resource requirements

• Partner with operations to ensure materials, equipment, and labor are properly aligned

• Develop mobilization plans and oversee required equipment procurement

• Create resource plans and evaluate staffing requirements across concurrent projects

Project Implementation

• Manage project schedules to control costs and meet contractual obligations

• Oversee subcontractor and vendor performance to streamline execution and improve efficiency

• Lead progress meetings and provide contractual reporting to clients

• Prepare and manage change orders in coordination with engineering and site leads

• Monitor field installation activities to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget

• Collaborate with QA/QC teams to ensure client specifications and quality plans are achieved

• Track project financial performance, cost controls, and profitability through internal systems

• Coordinate with clients to maintain alignment with master schedules and key milestones

• Communicate scope changes, updates, and risks to internal leadership and stakeholders

• Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and performance commitments are achieved

• Represent the organization in client meetings and project reviews

Project Close-Out

• Coordinate with engineering and finance teams to complete project close-outs efficiently

• Facilitate customer acceptance and final sign-off

• Support billing and accounts receivable processes as needed

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

• Provide coaching and development to team members

• Promote continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency

• Support Lean practices and strategic operational goals

• Participate in company meetings, conference calls, and annual planning activities

• Travel as required, including overnight travel when necessary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree

• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial or data center construction project management

• Experience managing large-scale structured cabling deployments and rack infrastructure installations

• Proven experience managing projects exceeding $1M in value, including GMP contracts

• Strong understanding of building codes and BICSI standards

• PMP certification

• BICSI RCDD or RTPM certification

• OSHA 30 certification

• Experience with major cabling manufacturers (Panduit, CommScope, Corning, etc.)

• Demonstrated success delivering telecommunications infrastructure projects

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, etc.)

• Ability to research technical issues and develop practical solutions

• Strong safety awareness and commitment to compliance standards

• Comfortable integrating into diverse project environments
