Staff Accountant - Logistics/Transportation
Department: Finance
Job Summary
The Staff Accountant will join our finance teams to support critical financial operations with in the dynamic logistics and transportation sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional to gain hands-on experience in analytics, process improvement and reporting, with a specific focus on understanding and optimizing costs and revenues related to our supply chain and fleet operations. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated to learn, possess strong analytical abilities, have attention to detail, good communication skills, and is eager to contribute to a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable:
- Invoice customers accurately and timely using multiple systems
- Manage and collect all Customer Accounts Receivable balances
- Collect, organize, and verify financial data from multiple customer systems and customer sources
- Analyze current processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and data accuracy
Accounts Payable:
- Process vendor bills and monitor open purchase orders in NetSuite
- Prepare NetSuite reports for internal stakeholders with accuracy and clarity
- Assist in variance analysis, like operational costs including trucks, labor, and maintenance
- Track key operational key performance indicators (KPIs) including fuel efficiency, on-time delivery rates, and fleet utilization
Process Improvement & Learning:
- Document existing financial processes and identify opportunities for automation or streamlining
- Collaborate with operational teams - dispatch, fleet, warehouse - to understand their financial impacts
- Actively learn about industry-specific financial concepts, regulations, and best practices in logistics and transportation finance
General Ledger:
- Assist with assigned account reconciliations
- Support month end close procedures
- Prepare data for daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports.
Ad-Hoc Projects:
- Support the finance team on various analytical and reporting projects as business needs arise
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Or 5 years of experience
- 0-2 years of professional or experience in finance, accounting, or logistics are strongly encouraged to apply
- Basic understanding of financial principles and accounting concepts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, data organization, pivot tables)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated, proactive, and eager to learn about the logistics and transportation industry
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- High level of integrity and discretion with confidential financial information
Qualifications:
- Experience with NetSuite or another ERP/financial reporting system
- Prior or work experience in a logistics, freight, or fleet-related finance role
- Familiarity with transportation operations or supply chain concepts

Environmental/Working Conditions:
This role is based at our Corporate office in Eagan, MN. You’ll work in a collaborative, indoor office environment with regular interaction across finance, operations and leadership.
