Superintendent

Job Description

Superintendent – Retail & Commercial Construction

Irvine, CA

Up to $155,000 base per year + auto allowance + fuel card + bonuses + health benefits

A well-established, family-owned California General Contractor (multi-office across Northern & Southern CA) is hiring a Superintendent to lead repeat retail and commercial builds in the $10M–$20M range for major clients.

This contractor is known for a “hire for careers, not projects” approach, a strong backlog of local work starting up, and deliberate, controlled growth (including an expanding industrial & data centre vertical), without taking on more than they can execute to a high standard.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading on-site delivery for retail & commercial projects ($10M–$20M)
  • Managing site logistics, sequencing, short-interval planning, and look-ahead schedules
  • Coordinating subcontractors and driving daily production to hit milestones
  • Owning site safety culture and compliance across all activities
  • Ensuring quality control, punch, turnover, and close-out are executed professionally
  • Partnering closely with Project Management to resolve issues quickly (RFI, procurement, change, schedule impacts)

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience as a lead Superintendent experience with a California-based General Contractor
  • Track record delivering retail and/or commercial projects in the $10M–$20M range
  • Strong subcontractor leadership, schedule control, and field problem-solving
  • Comfortable working with repeat clients and high standards of execution
  • Either local to Irvine or open to a travelling superintendent rotation
  • Solid job tenure

Compensation & benefits:

  • Up to $155,000 base per year (depending on fit and project history)
  • Auto allowance + fuel card
  • Bonuses (year-end + discretionary)
  • Health benefits
  • 401(k) match
  • Per diem if signed on as a traveling superintendent (primarily CA; occasional out-of-state; typically home every other weekend)

Why this opportunity:

  • High volume of repeat work (less “one-and-done” volatility)
  • Strong local backlog around Irvine
  • Family-owned culture where you’re not treated as a number
  • A business investing in industrial & data centre growth, creating longer-term runway for strong field leaders

If you’re interested, please apply with a resume and a brief project list (project name/type, value, location, delivery model, and your role).
