Position Summary
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring the performance, compliance, and continuous improvement of Mission Critical Group’s external supply base. This role provides technical and operational oversight of supplier quality across all product centers, supporting reliable material flow, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing excellence.
The SQE leads supplier qualification, performance monitoring, corrective action management, and audit execution while maintaining enterprise supplier quality data and analytics. The role is critical to ensuring product integrity, supply continuity, and risk mitigation across MCG’s manufacturing and project operations.
Key Responsibilities

Own overall supplier quality performance across assigned commodity categories and suppliers.

Principal quality liaison to suppliers, facilitating ongoing performance reviews, resolving quality concerns, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supplier capability and compliance.

Establish, communicate, and maintain supplier quality requirements, standards, and performance expectations.

Issuance of the MCG Supplier Quality Manual

Create Supplier Quality database including site audits, supplier self-surveillance and quality performance

Create and maintain ASL – Approved Supplier List
-
Monitor supplier performance metrics including defect rates, responsiveness, and corrective action effectiveness.

Support supplier selection, onboarding, and qualification in partnership with sourcing, operations, and engineering.

Maintain and administer the enterprise supplier quality database, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and accessibility.

Hold suppliers accountable for meeting quality and performance expectations through structured follow-up, performance reviews, and QBRs

Track and analyze supplier quality performance trends, risk indicators, and recurring issues (i.e., Supplier NCR, SCAR, defects, etc.) monthly tracking, verification, and closure.

Plan and conduct supplier audits, including qualification, surveillance, and process capability assessments.

Evaluate supplier quality systems, manufacturing processes, and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Lead nonconformance reporting (NCR) processes for supplier-related quality issues.

Manage supplier corrective action requests (SCAR), including issuance,

Conduct structured root cause analysis (8D, DMAIC, 5 Why, Fishbone) and verify corrective action effectiveness.

Partner with supply chain, engineering, operations, and manufacturing teams to resolve supplier quality issues.

Frequent supplier engagement with suppliers on-site visits and regular communication to ensure performance expectations are met and quality issues are resolved quickly.
Supplier Chargeback Program Ownership
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for administration and enforcement of MCG’s supplier chargeback program to recover costs associated with supplier-caused quality, delivery, and compliance failures.

Identify and document supplier-related cost impacts including rework, scrap, premium freight, downtime, field failures, and inspection costs.

Validate cost recovery eligibility and supporting documentation in accordance with MCG commercial agreements.

Issue formal chargeback notifications and coordinate resolution with suppliers and procurement teams.

Track chargeback status, recovery amounts, and dispute resolution.

Maintain chargeback records within the supplier quality database for financial and operational reporting.

Provide analytics on supplier cost-of-poor-quality (COPQ) and recurring cost drivers.

Support supplier performance reviews and commercial negotiations with chargeback data and trends.

Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related technical field.

5+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or industrial quality engineering.

Experience managing supplier audits, NCRs, SCARs, and supplier cost recovery / chargeback processes.
-
Strong knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent).

Experience working within manufacturing, industrial, or engineered product environments.

Proficiency with ERP, quality management systems (QMS), and data analysis tools.

Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP), or equivalent certification .
