Sustainability Manager\n\nBarnet | £50,000 – £60,000 + 10% Car Allowance + Benefits\n\nWe are working with a leading international construction and engineering business specialising in complex, high-specification environments including advanced manufacturing, logistics, data centres, and life sciences.\n\nWith a strong reputation for delivering technically challenging projects across the UK and globally, the business combines innovation, quality, and a people-focused culture to deliver exceptional results for its clients.\n\nThis is an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Manager to take a leading role in driving sustainability strategy across a diverse portfolio of projects.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for leading and implementing sustainability and ESG initiatives across multiple construction projects.\n\nYou will play a key role in embedding sustainable practices across the full project lifecycle — from design and procurement through to delivery — ensuring compliance, innovation, and measurable environmental performance.\n\nThis is a strategic and hands-on role, requiring the ability to balance sustainability objectives with commercial and programme demands while working closely with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n• Lead the development and delivery of sustainability strategies across UK projects\n\n• Set, monitor, and report on measurable sustainability and ESG targets\n\n• Integrate sustainability into design, procurement, and construction phases\n\n• Provide technical guidance on environmental standards and certifications (e.g. BREEAM, LEED, WELL)\n\n• Review sustainability plans, environmental assessments, and project performance\n\n• Engage with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners to align sustainability goals\n\n• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and internal management systems (including ISO14001)\n\n• Collect and analyse sustainability data to support reporting and continuous improvement\n\n• Promote innovative construction methods, materials, and technologies\n\n• Support and develop sustainability capability across project teams\n\nAbout You\n\n• Degree qualified in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline\n\n• 5+ years’ experience in sustainability within the construction or built environment sector\n\n• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, policy, and ESG frameworks\n\n• Experience with sustainability certifications such as BREEAM, LEED, or similar\n\n• Understanding of whole-life carbon, energy strategies, and environmental impact assessments\n\n• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills\n\n• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities\n\n• Experience contributing to or leading sustainability initiatives in a fast-paced environment\n\nDesirable\n\n• Professional membership (e.g. IEMA, IES or similar)\n\n• ISO14001 / ISO9001 auditing experience\n\n• Knowledge of LCA / LCC methodologies\n\n• Experience leading or mentoring sustainability professionals\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n• Competitive salary of £50,000 – £60,000\n\n• 10% car allowance\n\n• Opportunity to work on complex, high-value projects across multiple sectors\n\n• Strong career development within a growing and forward-thinking organisation\n\n• Collaborative, people-focused culture\n\nIf you are a driven sustainability professional looking to make a real impact across technically challenging construction projects, we would love to hear from you.\n\nApply today to explore this opportunity in Barnet
