Area Function
The Information Technology Department provides comprehensive computer and telecommunications services to the DFMS in support of all its operational objectives as the corporate entity of The Episcopal Church.
Job Summary
The Systems Support Manager oversees and maintains the operation of DFMS information technology systems, including all hardware and software components. Maintains trouble-free operation of DFMS computer hardware environments (networks, clients, communications and data circuits, security and server platforms) and the operating-system, application, and client software components on a continuous basis. Supervises System Support Analysts staff to ensure high quality, high-level customer service and support.
Reporting Relationships
This position reports to the Director of Information Technology and manages the roles of System Support Analysts (2).
Duties & Essential Job Functions
Principal Responsibilities
- Plans, coordinates and implements general systems deployments such as client applications and their supporting platforms, operational systems and network infrastructure. Builds and maintains server and network platforms based on specifications provided by Director as needed, implements small- and large-scale technology projects. This includes technology deployment at a large church-wide week-long event, which takes place every three years.
- Provides technical oversight, input, support and supervision to Systems Support Analyst role(s) and is the person responsible for all help desk activities. Serves as level 2 technical support if issues cannot be resolved by Help Desk / Systems Support Analysts. Escalates any unresolved tickets to outside vendors and or Director of Information Technology.
- Assists IT Director with the investigation of technologies in the areas of hardware, connectivity, operating systems, and basic application software. Conducts in-house tests of technologies where appropriate and recommends changes to the LAN and back-office systems. Provides technical input and research concerning aspects of planned architectural changes to DFMS technologies.
- Consults with hardware, software, and integration vendors to resolve issues and problems in the use of their products or services in the DFMS environment. Participates in vendor installations, repairs/troubleshooting, and upgrades. This includes vendors of all vertical (back-office) applications required by specific departments in coordination with the Application Manager.
- Works with outside vendors to manage LAN and WAN (wide-area network) security and ensures the security and integrity of company systems.
- Assists the Director of IT in investigating new technologies and provides input for strategic decisions about systems architecture and growth.
- Manages Data and Operations Center, IDF, and related equipment deployments.
- Oversees conference room and large meeting room setups with support staff

QualificationsRequired
- Administrator skills in Windows 11, Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, 2025 (nice to have)
- Mac Administration – Kandji (IRU) or Jamf for MDM including Bash Scripting
- AD Administration, Exchange Online Administration
- Office 365 User Administration via powershell
- Dell & HP server technologies
- Fortinet, Dell Switches, and Ecessa Networking and Security Technologies
- 3+ years of experience CrowdStrike EDR
- 2+ years of experience with NinjaOne RMM
- Switching/Routing Networking technologies
- TCP/IP NetBIOS DHCP WINs DNS IPX protocols and technologies.
- Zero Trust Network Access, VPN, and Broadband Technologies
- X86 based PC and Mac Laptop hardware troubleshooting
- MS Office 365, Salesforce, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Zoom Web Conferencing
- Veeam Backup and Tape Library experience
- Fiber and Copper Cabling Technologies / EIA/TIA Cabling Standards
Required
- BA or BS Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or Computer Science.
- Ten years’ experience working with structured business technology systems.
- Technology Integration Experience, Experience in non-profit environments. Experience with structured large-scale deployment methodologies.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds and climb up an 8ft ladder as needed.
- Carry/transport and installation of technology equipment; pallets/shipments, printers, PCs, servers, network switches and other heavy equipment. Moving of racks, working for extended periods in cooled data centers and operations facilities, wiring closets, etc.

- This position is an in-person role, located at the Episcopal Church Center, in New York, New York.
- Must be willing and able to work some non-traditional hours. This position often involves after hours work on nights and weekends (sometimes significant) beyond the standard DFMS work week.
- Must be willing and able to work in a broad variety of working environments, depending upon the situation at hand.
- Must be willing and able to travel occasionally as needed.
