TechOps Engineer
What do we do?
ACD Direct, Inc. is an innovative, virtual company that thrives on brokering solutions for our non-profit clients. ACDs heartbeat and competitive edge is powered by our people. Our company has grown from providing routine call center services to providing high-level, full-scale donor support resources and products. Our proprietary scripting engine, web forms and custom-built reporting enable clients to successfully conduct large-scale fundraising campaigns with accuracy and creativity.
Limitations:
Applicant to be located within a 50 mile radius of Salt Lake City, Utah. Although position is remote employee will be required to visit data center on a quarterly basis. It is not required for the employee to be located in the state of Utah.
What will you do?
You will be the primary caretaker of the platforms, networks, and databases that keep ACD Direct running 247, while also applying DevOps practices to streamline how we build and release code.

Operate, monitor, and harden our hybrid infrastructure (Azure + two on-prem data-centers).
Administer Microsoft SQL Serverbackups, tuning, High Availability/DR, and SSIS jobs.
Manage Windows & Linux servers, patching, capacity planning, and performance troubleshooting.
Own Azure AD / on-prem AD: users, groups, GPOs, conditional access, and SSO integrations.
Maintain endpoint compliance (PCI DSS), vulnerability remediation, and audit readiness.
Create and maintain runbooks, diagrams, and CMDB records.
Provide Tier-3 escalation for incidents and root-cause analysis.
Design/maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps & GitHub Actions) for Functions, Containers, and web apps.
Codify infrastructure with Bicep or Terraform; promote everything via pull requests.
Automate repetitive tasks with Python or PowerShell (e.g., build scripts, health checks, self-healing jobs).
Collaborate with Developers & QA to shorten release cycles and improve rollback safety.
Day-to-day responsibilities
- Prioritize operational health: monitor dashboards, respond to alerts, and drive MTTR down.
- Evolve our observability stack (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Prometheus/Grafana).
- Review infrastructure PRs, enforce coding standards, and champion security-as-code.
- Keep documentation current so the next engineer (or you-in-6-months) can move fast.
- Execute DR tests and capacity drills; refine RPO/RTO targets.
- Tune SQL queries, indexes, and ETL jobs supporting fundraising workloads.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
What does it take?
- 4+ years in TechOps/SysAdmin or Site Reliability roles supporting Windows & Linux in production.
- Hands-on SQL Serverexpertise (query tuning, Always On AG, maintenance plans).
- StrongAzurebackground: VMs, VNets, Functions, Storage, Monitoring, Defender, Policy.
- Scripting chops inPython ()or PowerShell for automation and data wrangling.
- Proven experience buildingCI/CD pipelinesand IaC (Bicep, ARM, or Terraform).
- Working knowledge ofActive Directory / Azure AD& hybrid .
- Familiarity with containers (Docker, AKS or Azure Container Apps) and Git workflows.
- Solid grasp ofPCI DSS or similar compliance
- Bachelors in CS/ITorequivalent real-world track record.
- Self-starter mentality and excellent written communication in a fully remote setting.
