Technical Business Development Manager (Global)

Our client is a world‑renowned distributor of electronic components and logistics solutions, supporting sectors such as automotive, medical, security, and with a strong emphasis on defence and harsh‑environment applications. With 400+ employees across the UK, USA, China, Germany, Israel, Turkey, Mexico, India and Australia, they are one of the largest and most respected distributors of their kind.
They are now seeking a Technical Business Development Manager (TBDM) to lead, grow and scale a key global franchise partnership. This is a senior, high‑autonomy role, pivotal to shaping and executing the global commercial strategy for this strategic franchise.
The Opportunity
As the TBDM, you will take full ownership of the global business strategy for the franchise, driving early pipeline creation, securing strategic design wins, and positioning the company as a leading value‑add partner across open networking and infrastructure markets.
This is a global leadership position with significant international travel.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Commercial Leadership
Own and deliver the global commercial strategy for the franchise.
Drive Year 1 KPIs including pipeline growth, design wins, bookings and gross margin.
Develop a 3‑year franchise growth plan.
Identify and onboard complementary manufacturers to strengthen the product portfolio.
Business Developmen
* Target new markets including:
* Open networking
* Data centre infrastructure
* Telecom / 5G
* Secure and defence communications
* Edge compute
* Build senior‑level customer relationships and strategic partnerships with OEMs, SIs, EMS providers and infrastructure specialists.
* Support commercial agreements such as NDAs, distribution and strategic supply agreements.
Technical Engagement
* Act as the internal and external ambassador for the franchise product line.
* Engage confidently at system level to define architectures, position open‑networking solutions, and align hardware with NOS environments.
* Support FAE teams to ensure successful design conversions.
* Deliver technical and product training to internal teams.
Marketing & Market Development
* Collaborate with marketing to plan strategic initiatives and content.
* Support campaigns across email, LinkedIn, exhibitions, and technical seminars.
* Represent the company and franchise at global industry events.
* Maintain strong market and competitive awareness.

Experience & Competencies
Essential
Proven business development experience in networking, switching, telecom infrastructure or related technologies.
Experience selling open networking or infrastructure hardware.
Ability to engage at system level and define high‑level specifications.
Strong commercial acumen and a proactive, ownership mindset.
Experience managing international accounts.
Demonstrated success building a pipeline from early‑stage or zero base.
Comfortable operating with high autonomy and accountability.
Desirable
Knowledge of open networking ecosystems (e.g., SONiC).
Experience in defence or secure communications.
Existing relationships with infrastructure OEMs or telecom markets.
Experience introducing new technology lines within distribution.

This is a global role requiring substantial international travel to engage customers, partners, and stakeholders.
