Technical Manager

A leading global provider of Data Centre Solutions is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to serve as the primary point of contact for all technical activities across a high-profile client account. This role provides expert guidance on data centre operations, installation standards, and critical environment best practices, ensuring resilience, compliance, and innovation across all technical services.

 

The Role

The Technical Manager will act as the centre of competence for data centre operations, maintenance, and commissioning. As a trusted advisor to client and account teams, the individual will deliver technical assurance, support risk management, and drive continuous improvement across all facilities. The role requires significant experience in critical environments, strong leadership capability, and the ability to provide innovative technical solutions that enhance operational performance and client value.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single point of contact for all technical activities across the client account.
  • Deliver expert guidance on maintenance, operations, testing, and commissioning of data centre systems.
  • Support the development of risk assessments, asset management plans, and energy management programmes.
  • Lead technical reviews, audits, and due diligence for client accounts and critical facilities.
  • Support the planning, validation, commissioning, and integration of new infrastructure projects.
  • Provide input into commercial bids, strategic outsourcing opportunities, and feasibility studies.
  • Develop technical teams, ensuring consistent approaches, advanced skills, and zero-impact operations.
  • Build strong senior-level client relationships and promote innovation and best practice in data centre operations.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the business in global best practice forums, contributing to the development of industry-leading standards.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification; Chartered Engineer status desirable.
  • 7–10 years’ senior-level experience in critical services operations, design, or commissioning.
  • In-depth knowledge of data centre systems, including UPS, generators, cooling, load and airflow management, and electrical/mechanical distribution.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with proven ability to influence and manage across diverse teams.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship management skills at all levels.
  • Track record in delivering business goals and driving operational excellence in critical environments.
