Direct Counsel is representing an Am Law 100 firm seeking a mid- to senior-level Associate (5–7 years of experience) to join its Telecommunications Practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading global firm advising top domestic and international clients across the digital infrastructure ecosystem. This position is location-flexible and open to multiple U.S. offices, with the primary team based in Washington, D.C.. The hybrid work schedule allows flexibility while providing meaningful in-person collaboration with colleagues and clients.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will directly engage with innovative companies shaping the future of global connectivity. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Drafting and negotiating complex commercial infrastructure agreements, including terrestrial and subsea connectivity, and space-based service agreements.

  • Advising clients on licensing matters for next- satellite and spectrum initiatives and other telecommunications services.

  • Providing regulatory guidance on telecommunications, wireless, space, and submarine cable issues.

  • Conducting due diligence and structuring commercial arrangements that integrate technology and policy considerations.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • 5–7 years of experience in commercial contracting or transactional law, ideally within the telecommunications, digital infrastructure, or technology sectors.

  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, with proven experience managing sophisticated commercial agreements.

  • Familiarity or experience with telecommunications regulatory frameworks and related due diligence is but not required.

  • Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across practice groups.

  • Admission to the bar in the state of practice or eligibility for admission.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected annual salary range for this position varies by location:

  • Los Angeles: $280,000- $375,000
  • Comprehensive benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO and 401k
