We are seeking a Telecom Network Engineer for our Rancho Cucamonga office to become an integral part of our engineering team. This Tier 3 role is responsible for the design, provisioning, testing, and ongoing support of Internet and long-haul data services in a service provider environment.
The ideal candidate has strong routing and switching experience, is comfortable supporting carrier-grade networks, and can independently resolve complex technical issues while participating in a rotating on-call schedule. Be able to secure Airport TSA background screening and be able to Access U. S. Military Installations.
Job Duties (Rancho Cucamonga, CA)
- Provision, configure, and test E-Line, E-LAN, and Internet services
- Design, implement, and support Internet and long-haul data networks
- Develop and execute test plans to validate infrastructure and system performance
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot BGP and OSPF
- Create and maintain network diagrams and technical documentation
- Enforce standards and policies for network design and implementation
- Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
- Provide Tier 3 escalation support and participate in a rotating on-call schedule
- Support maintenance windows and planned network upgrades
Required Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation
- Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- CCNA, Network+, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
In-Depth Technical Knowledge
- Ethernet cabling and Layer 2 fundamentals
- IP subnetting and addressing
- VLANs (802.1Q)
- DHCP
- DNS
- NAT and Carrier-Grade NAT (CG-NAT)
- Wi-Fi technologies, including 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6)
Technical Experience & Familiarity
- OSPF routing protocols
- Remote Windows network troubleshooting (IP configuration, ping, traceroute)
- OpenVPN
- Cisco and Cisco-like CLI on routers and switches
- Firewalls and security appliances
- SSH, FTP, TFTP, and Telnet
- Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
Awareness / Experience
- Fiber optic cabling and physical-layer concepts
- Service Provider VLANs (802.1ad / Q-in-Q)
- Carrier and Metro Ethernet services
- DWDM systems
- Fixed Wireless technologies (5 GHz and 60 GHz)
- Fiber testing and splicing (fusion splicing, OTDR use)
- Passive Optical Networking (GPON and XGS-PON)
- Calix hardware platforms
- Ubiquiti platforms (UniFi and UISP)
- IPv6 networking
- Advanced BGP concepts
- Proxmox Virtualization Environment (PVE) and virtual machines
- Linux systems, especially Debian/Ubuntu Server
Physical & Compliance Requirements
- Ability to lift and install network equipment
- Ability to climb ladders and work in office, data center, and industrial environments
- Must not be blind
- Must be able to pass a background check
