Traveling Field Project Engineer

Location: Abilene, TX
Salary: $100,000–$115,000 annually
Project Type: Data Center Construction

Schedule: Monday–Saturday

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Field Project Engineer to support a civil subcontractor on a large-scale data center project in Abilene, Texas.

This is a field-focused position for a Project Engineer who is comfortable working directly alongside the Superintendent and field team. The ideal candidate will have strong construction knowledge, understand field operations, and be able to help coordinate the day-to-day execution of the project.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the Superintendent and field leadership to support daily project operations
• Assist with coordinating subcontractors, crews, materials, and deliveries
• Review plans, drawings, specifications, and project documents
• Track daily progress and maintain accurate field documentation
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, material tracking, and project correspondence
• Monitor project schedules and communicate updates to the project team
• Help identify and resolve field issues as they arise
• Coordinate with project management, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel
• Assist with quality control and ensuring work is completed according to project plans and specifications
• Participate in field meetings, inspections, and project coordination meetings
• Maintain accurate daily reports, documentation, and project records
• Support the Superintendent and Project Manager with day-to-day project needs

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Project Engineer in commercial, civil, or data center construction
• Strong field construction experience required
• Experience working directly with Superintendents and field crews
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
• Strong understanding of construction processes and field coordination
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, active construction environment
• Willingness to travel and work on a project-based schedule
• Data center or large-scale commercial construction experience
• Candidates must currently live in Texas, New Mexico, or Oklahoma
• Candidates outside of these states will not be considered

Compensation

• $100,000–$115,000 annual salary
• Traveling position
• Monday–Saturday schedule
• Opportunity to work on a large-scale data center construction project
