Traveling Data Center Foreman Technician

About the Role:

A Data Center Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising installation crews on mission critical and hyperscale data center construction projects. This role oversees daily field operations including structured cabling, fiber installation, rack and stack, pathway build out, and quality control. The Foreman ensures work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and data center standards. This position requires strong technical expertise along with proven leadership and coordination skills in high security environments.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise data center technicians and fiber crews on active construction sites.
  • Plan daily work activities and assign manpower to meet production goals and project deadlines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, rack elevations, fiber matrices, cable schedules, and project drawings.
  • Oversee installation of copper and fiber optic cabling systems including high density and backbone infrastructure.
  • Supervise rack and stack of cabinets, servers, patch panels, and network equipment.
  • Ensure proper installation of ladder rack, basket tray, overhead pathways, and containment systems.
  • Oversee termination and testing of copper and fiber systems using Fluke testers, OTDR equipment, and certification tools.
  • Maintain strict quality control standards including labeling, cable management, documentation, and as built accuracy.
  • Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, electrical teams, and other trades to maintain workflow.
  • Monitor material usage and communicate shortages or change orders to project management.
  • Conduct jobsite safety meetings and enforce OSHA and site specific safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with data center security requirements including badge access and secure work zones.
  • Troubleshoot installation challenges and provide technical guidance to crew members.
  • Prepare daily progress reports and communicate production updates to leadership.
  • Work from ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms as required.
  • Extensive experience in commercial and hyperscale data center environments required. BICSI certification, manufacturer certifications, or fiber certifications are a strong plus.

Required Qualifications:

  • Reliable transportation and ability to report to the jobsite on time daily.
  • Valid driver’s license if required for the role.
  • Full PPE including hard hat, safety vest, steel toe boots, gloves, and safety glasses.
  • Basic hand tools and trade specific tools as required.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and OSHA guidelines.
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to take direction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts as needed.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Ability to work in secure or badge access environments.
