Summary: Traveling Electrical Project Manager

The Traveling Electrical Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, financial performance, and successful delivery of large-scale electrical scopes on a data center project in Iowa. This role oversees projects from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all contractual, code, and quality requirements.

The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact with the General Contractor, client, and internal teams, while providing leadership and direction to Superintendents, Foremen, and project support staff. This position requires the ability to travel as needed to support project demands.

Essential Functions

  • Manage all phases of electrical construction projects from kickoff through closeout
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and cost-to-complete forecasts
  • Lead project planning, buyout, and procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors
  • Collaborate closely with Superintendents to align field execution with project schedule and budget
  • Monitor labor productivity, material costs, and equipment usage to ensure financial targets are met
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract documentation
  • Lead OAC meetings and coordinate with GC, owners, inspectors, vendors, and trade partners
  • Ensure compliance with NEC (NFPA 70), project specifications, and applicable codes and regulations
  • Oversee quality control, inspections, testing, startup, and commissioning activities
  • Promote and enforce safety standards in coordination with field leadership and safety teams
  • Review and approve project billing, pay applications, and cost reports
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting throughout the project lifecycle
  • Support closeout activities including punch lists, as-builts, O&M manuals, and turnover
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education & Experience

  • 7–10+ years of experience in electrical construction with progressive project management responsibility
  • Proven experience managing large commercial or industrial electrical projects
  • Data center project experience strongly
  • Strong understanding of NEC (NFPA 70) and NFPA 70E
  • Experience managing electrical projects to schedule and budget
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings, one-lines, specs, and BIM/VDC outputs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of Bluebeam, Autodesk Construction Cloud, LaborChart, or similar platforms
  • Active Journeyman or Master Electrician license (or equivalent field background)
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR

Physical Demands

  • Ability to visit active construction sites and work in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts, and traverse jobsite terrain as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must wear required PPE while on site
  • Ability to travel and work extended or off-shift hours as required

Compensation & Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $125,000–$160,000, depending on experience, skills, and market conditions. The role includes a competitive benefits package, which may include:
