Job DescriptionJob Description
Role Summary
HCTNS / MVA Energy is embarking on an ambitious development plan through 2030, which includes:
- Developing at least 6–10 transformer/switchgear/generator-based power service centers in Ohio, Texas, Illinois, and other regions.
- Constructing multiple small power plants (5–50 MVA) using gas Gensets, BESS, and solar—both stand-alone and integrated with our facilities.
- Building high-reliability power infrastructure for substations and data centers.
We are looking for a mid-level in-house Project / Construction Manager to sit on the Owner side and coordinate land development, design, permitting, construction, and handover for these facilities. Additionally, during periods without active construction, this role will focus on benchmarking and technical review of power substations and data center building systems (analyzing one-line diagrams, specifications, and best practices) to apply to future projects.
This position starts as a mid-level Development PM/Engineer (5–10 years experience) with a clear path to grow into Senior PM / Head of Development / Director / VP as our North American footprint expands.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Feasibility
- Support early-stage evaluation of new service center, factory, and small power plant sites
- Help define owner’s requirements: building size, clear height, cranes, concrete storage yard, test areas, electrical rooms/substations, and office/support spaces.
- Service Center Development (Transformers / Switchgear / Generators)
- Support the development of 6–10 power-related service centers (through 2030) in OH/TX/IL
- Apply and adapt standard facility modules (e.g., 40k / 60k / 100k sf) to each site.
- Review layouts for yards, crane coverage, loading, test areas, parts storage, and logistics flows.
- Small Power Plants (5–50 MVA – Gas Genset / BESS / Solar)
- Support concept and basic design for stand-alone and integrated small power plants.
- Coordinate interface requirements among gensets, transformers, switchgear, protection & control, BESS, and solar.
- Work with EPC and specialist engineers on schedule, cost, and technical alignment.
- Substation & Data Center Power/Building Benchmarking
- Research and benchmark US/North American power substations and data center power/building solutions.
- Analyze one-line diagrams, redundancy concepts, transformer/switchgear configurations, electrical/mechanical layouts, and building concepts.
- Summarize best practices and recommend standard specifications and layouts for HCTNS / MVA projects.
- Note: Focus on these analytical and specification review tasks during slower construction periods to continuously improve internal standards.
- Standard Prototype Development
- Work with US AE/GC partners to develop standard warehouse/service center prototypes.
- Coordinate with Korean/Vietnamese design firms to develop interior layouts, details, and BOM based on these prototypes.
- Help maintain reusable standard design packages for multiple sites.
- Design Coordination (Arch/Civil/MEP/Electrical)
- Participate in design meetings with architects, structural/civil engineers, and MEP/electrical engineers as the Owner’s representative.
- Review drawings to ensure proper integration of yards, cranes, slab loading, test bays, electrical rooms, and substation/BESS/GEN interfaces.
- Coordinate drawings/BOM produced by global teams with US AE/PE to meet local codes and permitting requirements.
- Permitting & Authorities Coordination
- Support coordination with cities/counties, economic development agencies, utilities, fire departments, and environmental consultants.
- Track schedules and requirements for site plans, building permits, zoning/use approvals, and utility connections.
- CM/GC & Consultant Management
- Support RFPs, proposal evaluations, and interviews for CM/GC, Owner’s Rep, and design partners
- Assist in defining scope, budget, and schedule; help review contracts, VE proposals, and major change orders.
- Monitor schedule, budget, and risk, helping to drive decisions from the Owner’s perspective.
- Site / Field Coordination
- Attend key site meetings (Ohio Lancaster/Columbus, Texas, Illinois, etc.) to track progress, quality, and safety issues.
- Follow up on installation schedules for cranes, ovens, paint booths, oil and test systems, and substations to support issue resolution.
- Standardization & Documentation
- Help develop and maintain standard drawings, checklists, RFP templates, and cost benchmarks.
- Prepare clear monthly/quarterly project and benchmarking reports for the CEO and Korean HQ.
Requirements
