**VMware Engineer – SC Cleared – Farnborough – up to £65,000 per annum base + benefits**

We are recruiting a highly skilled and motivated VMWare Engineer on behalf of a Defence Consultancy firm based in Farnborough. Due to the secure nature of the position and working environment, you must be sole British and have an active SC Clearance.

As a VMware Engineer you should have a proven track record and hands-on experience in managing VMware technologies, specifically VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), VMware Tanzu, and VMware vRealize Operations (vROps).

Key experience:

VCF Management:

  • Deployment and Configuration: Demonstrated experience in deploying and configuring VMware Cloud Foundation, encompassing vSphere, NSX, and vSAN integration.
  • Patch and Upgrade Management: Proficiency in managing VCF patching and upgrading processes to ensure a continuously up-to-date environment.
  • Availability and Disaster Recovery: Proven expertise in implementing High Availability (HA) and disaster recovery strategies within the VCF environment.

Tanzu Implementation:

  • Kubernetes Integration: Hands-on experience in integrating VMware Tanzu into a virtualization environment to orchestrate Kubernetes clusters within vSphere.
  • Container Management: A strong understanding of containerized applications and their management using Tanzu, with a focus on scalability and efficiency.
  • Security and Compliance: Familiarity with security best practices for Tanzu clusters and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

vROps Optimization:

  • Performance Monitoring: Demonstrated ability to proactively monitor the health and performance of a virtualized environment using vRealize Operations Manager.
  • Capacity Planning: Proven expertise in conducting capacity planning and resource optimization, efficiently allocating resources and reducing costs.
  • Custom Dashboard Creation: Experience in designing and creating custom dashboards within vROps to provide real-time insights into infrastructure performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborative work with network engineers, system administrators, and security experts to ensure a holistic approach to IT infrastructure management and to provide comprehensive solutions tailored to specific client requirements.
  • Ability to conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and provide training to internal teams and clients to enhance their understanding of VCF, Tanzu, and vROps functionalities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Extensive experience in managing VMware environments.
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) in Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)
  • Proficiency in VMware technologies, including vSphere, NSX, vSAN, Tanzu, and vRealize Operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to evolving virtualization and cloud technologies.
