VP of Preconstruction job summary:

Someone who thrives in a MEP heavy, schedule‑driven environment, and can "roll up their sleeves" and get it done. VP of Preconstruction - Must haves:
- Proven Leadership and Communication skills
- Prior experience working with a GC (and as a Sr Estimator)
- Must have experience bidding the ENTIRE project
- Prior experience & current relationships in the local subcontractor community
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Perform value engineering and analysis to optimize costs, schedule, quality, reliability and human performance.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams in value engineering efforts
- Able to perform all essential estimating responsibilities
- Review and approve all estimates and schedules prepared for negotiated projects and hard bid jobs.
- Facilitate job turnover process from estimating to project team.
- Supervise subcontract bidding and negotiations.
- Lead and supervise preconstruction and estimating group and assign resources appropriately.
- Recruit, train, mentor and oversee supervision of preconstruction and estimating staff.
- Supervise the activities of project team to ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards and quality standards.
- Detail tracking of pursuit costs (what it is costing to pursue bids and opportunities).
MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE:
- 10+ years of construction management experience
- 5 years experience in a Leadership capacity
- Prior experience approving all subcontracts and major material purchase orders.
- Prior experience signing off on budget &
- Education in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree
- Leadership and people skills
- Excellent communication skills
