Job Title: Journeyman Welder (Data Center Construction)
Project Type: New Construction – Ground-Up Data Center
Position Summary
The Journeyman Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication in support of piping and structural systems for a ground-up data center construction project. This role includes welding for mechanical systems such as chilled water, condenser water, and structural supports critical to mission-critical infrastructure. The ideal candidate is experienced in commercial or industrial construction, understands welding codes and procedures, and is strongly committed to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding on various materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and other alloys as required.
- Execute welding processes, including SMAW (stick), GTAW (TIG), and GMAW (MIG), as required.
- Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, isometric drawings, and specifications.
- Prepare materials for welding, including cutting, grinding, beveling, and fit-up.
- Weld piping systems, structural supports, and miscellaneous metal components.
- Inspect welds for accuracy, quality, and compliance with project standards.
- Perform repairs and rework as needed to meet inspection requirements.
Qualifications
- Journeyman-level welding experience (typically 4+ years) in commercial or industrial construction.
- Experience with high-pressure piping systems and/or structural welding .
- Proficiency in multiple welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW).
- Ability to read and interpret welding drawings and specifications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions.
- Prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and working in awkward positions.
- Ability to work in environments with heat, sparks, and fumes (with proper PPE).
