Overview:
Staxmatic is seeking an Assistant Construction Project Manager with experience supporting commercial Mechanical and Plumbing (MEP) construction projects. This role assists with managing projects from pre-construction planning through project closeout, supporting scheduling, budgeting, procurement, documentation, and field coordination.
Projects include K-12 schools, healthcare and medical facilities, higher education campuses, data centers, and large commercial buildings throughout Texas. The Assistant Project Manager works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Mechanical Foremen, Plumbing Foremen, subcontractors, vendors, and General Contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, quality, and contract requirements.
This position is ideal for a motivated construction professional with commercial MEP experience who is looking to grow into a full Project Manager role and gain hands-on exposure to both field operations and project financial management.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager in managing commercial mechanical and plumbing construction projects from pre-construction through closeout
- Support coordination of HVAC systems, piping, plumbing systems, and MEP scopes
- Help track project budgets, cost reports, forecasts, and change orders
- Assist with creating, updating, and monitoring project schedules in coordination with Superintendents and field leadership
- Coordinate with Mechanical and Plumbing Foremen, subcontractors, vendors, and General Contractors
- Monitor field progress, productivity, and material deliveries to support project milestones
- Track and manage RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, drawings, and contract documents
- Support material procurement, equipment coordination, and vendor communication
- Attend project meetings, document action items, and follow up to ensure timely resolution
- Assist with billing documentation, progress reports, and project closeout materials
- Maintain accurate project files and documentation within project management systems
- Support compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and project specifications
- Identify potential risks, constructability issues, or scope conflicts and escalate as needed
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in construction project coordination or Assistant Project Management
- Experience in commercial Mechanical and/or Plumbing (MEP) construction strongly
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, piping, and construction sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar platforms
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced commercial construction environment
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience
