Associate Director - Mechanical (Data Centres / Mission Critical)\n\nHybrid – 3 days per week in a UK office (Manchester, London, Sunderland) \n\nWe are supporting a well-established, multi-disciplinary building services consultancy with the appointment of an Associate Director / Principal Mechanical Engineer to play a senior leadership role within their Mission Critical (Data Centre) team.\n\nThis is a hands-on technical and client-facing position, leading the mechanical design of complex data centre projects from early concept through to detailed design and delivery. You will act as Mechanical Design Lead, working closely with internal MEP teams and external stakeholders while helping to shape technical standards, project outcomes and client relationships within a growing data centre capability.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead mechanical design for data centre projects from feasibility and concept through to detailed design and construction support\n\nOversee and review mechanical calculations, reports and specifications to ensure technical quality and compliance\n\nManage CFD briefing, coordination and review with specialist supply chain partners\n\nAct as primary mechanical point of contact for clients and wider design teams\n\nProvide technical leadership across HVAC, cooling, water and specialist data centre systems\n\nSupport project delivery, resourcing, programme and commercial performance\n\nContribute to proposals, bids and business development within the Mission Critical sector\n\nUndertake technical reviews and mentor senior and mid-level engineers\n\nAbout You\n\nDegree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering\n\nChartered Engineer (or equivalent)\n\nSignificant experience delivering data centre mechanical design within a consultancy environment\n\nStrong understanding of redundancy, resiliency, uptime and tiered data centre design\n\nConfident working directly with hyperscale and colocation clients\n\nAdvanced Revit and BIM capability\n\nThis role offers a clear leadership platform within a specialist data centre team, exposure to technically challenging projects and the opportunity to influence both delivery and growth within a high-performing consultancy
