Associate Mechanical Engineer\n\nLocation: Manchester\n\nSalary - Market Rate circa £65,000 to £70,000\n Job Type: Full Time, Permanent\n Sector: Building Services / Mechanical Engineering\n\nThe Opportunity\n\nA well-established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join its growing Manchester team. The business delivers technically robust, sustainable design solutions across the built environment and works on a diverse portfolio of local, , and international projects.\n\nThis is a senior technical and leadership role offering the opportunity to lead complex mechanical building services projects, develop client relationships, and support the growth and performance of a high-quality local team.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs an Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will take responsibility for the delivery of mechanical design services across multiple sectors, working closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and multidisciplinary design teams. You will act as a key point of contact on projects, ensuring technical excellence, commercial performance, and repeat business opportunities.\n\nKey responsibilities include:\n\nLeading the mechanical design delivery of small to large-scale building services projects\nActing as the primary client contact and maintaining strong professional relationships\nDefining and agreeing project briefs, scopes, and deliverables\nCoordinating mechanical services within multidisciplinary design teams\nManaging project resources, workloads, and technical outputs\nMonitoring project costs, programme, and profitability\nEnsuring compliance with relevant British Standards and industry best practice\nSupporting bid submissions and promoting the wider consultancy service offering\nMentoring and supporting the development of engineers within the team\nIdentifying and managing technical and commercial risk\nWork on Projects typically spanning; Residential, Commercial Offices, Healthcare, Science & Research, Mission-Critical & Data Centres\n About You\n\nYou will be an experienced mechanical building services professional with strong consultancy experience and the confidence to lead both technically and commercially.\n\nEssential experience and skills:\n\nProven experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a consultancy environment\nStrong knowledge of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, heating and ventilation\nExperience delivering complex projects across multiple sectors\nConfident working in multidisciplinary teams\nStrong client-facing and communication skills\nProficiency in Revit and AutoCAD\nGood working knowledge of relevant British Standards\nAbility to manage teams, delegate work, and check technical outputs\n Desirable attributes:\n\nExperience collaborating with complementary disciplines such as acoustics, fire engineering, sustainability, and modelling\nCommercial awareness and experience supporting business development\nA collaborative, inclusive, and proactive leadership style\n What's on Offer\n\nA senior role within a respected, people-focused engineering consultancy\nExposure to high-profile and technically challenging projects\nClear opportunities for progression and professional development\nFlexible and supportive working culture\nCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits package \n\nsee\n\nCalibre Search promote equality in the workplace and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified candidates regardless of their sex, , , /beliefs, or .
