Associate Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

At Black & White Engineering, we’re redefining the future of mission-critical infrastructure.

We’re looking for a Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our growing MEP team and lead the design and delivery of high-performance mechanical systems for hyperscale and colocation data centres across Europe. This is a senior role that blends technical leadership, client engagement, and strategic thinking, offering the opportunity to shape the digital backbone of modern society.

You’ll be responsible for managing complex mechanical design projects from concept through to completion, ensuring resilience, efficiency, and compliance with international standards. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll collaborate with clients, architects, and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions that meet demanding performance, energy-efficiency, and sustainability goals.

We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in mechanical building services engineering, ideally with experience in mission-critical environments such as data centres, healthcare facilities, or high-tech manufacturing.

You’ll have deep expertise in HVAC system design, cooling strategies for high-density environments, chilled water systems, air handling units, heat rejection systems, and associated mechanical plant. You should be confident using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, IES, and CFD modelling software. Experience preparing specifications, schedules, and contract documentation, as well as managing budgets and ensuring on-time, in-scope project delivery, is essential.

As a natural communicator and team-builder, you’ll support and mentor junior engineers, contribute to resource planning, and represent the mechanical discipline in client meetings and industry forums. You’ll be expected to stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry standards, and regulatory developments, and to support business growth by identifying new opportunities and strengthening client relationships.

If you’re ready to make a lasting impact in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment, we’d love to hear from you.
