We are seeking an experienced Building Automation / BMS Superintendent to lead field operations for a data center project in the Charlotte area. This role will oversee crews installing and integrating low voltage infrastructure that supports building automation and environmental control systems within mission-critical facilities.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage field crews, subcontractors, and vendors on data center building automation and low voltage installations
  • Oversee installation, termination, and testing of Cat5/Cat6 structured cabling and fiber optic infrastructure
  • Supervise installation of HVAC sensors, BMS devices, and control wiring supporting building automation systems
  • Ensure proper setup, integration, and troubleshooting of BACnet communication networks
  • Provide technical guidance on fiber installations including fusion splicing and MPO/MTP connectors
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and control diagrams to coordinate installation and resolve field issues
  • Maintain daily logs, material tracking, and as-built documentation using tools such as Procore or PlanGrid
  • Ensure all work meets TIA/EIA standards, NEC code, manufacturer specifications, and OSHA safety requirements

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of experience in low voltage cabling, structured cabling, building automation, or controls systems
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing technicians or field crews
  • Experience with BACnet communication protocols and building automation systems (BMS/BAS)
  • Strong knowledge of Cat5/Cat6 cabling, fiber optic infrastructure, and testing procedures
  • Experience working with HVAC sensors, environmental monitoring systems, and building controls
  • Familiarity with fire alarm integration within building automation environments
  • Experience using Fluke testing equipment for cable certification and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, and network diagrams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management tools
  • BICSI Installer certification (RCDD a plus)
  • Fiber Optic Association CFOT certification
