Business Development Manager

Job Description

I am seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to support the growth of activities across the UK power and energy infrastructure sector. The role will focus on identifying and securing new business opportunities across a diverse portfolio including power systems automation (protection, control, SCADA and telecoms), electrical substation design, grid compliance studies, and panel build projects.\n\nThis is a key role within the business, working closely with technical and commercial teams to develop long-term client relationships and convert opportunities into profitable work.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDeliver against agreed sales and growth targets across defined markets and service lines.\n\nIdentify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within DNOs, ICPs, EPC contractors, and renewable energy developers (including BESS, solar, and wind).\n\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.\n\nSupport the preparation of bids, tenders, PQQs, and proposal submissions in collaboration with engineering and commercial teams.\n\nMonitor market activity, frameworks, and procurement portals to identify upcoming opportunities.\n\nMaintain a healthy and active sales pipeline aligned with company growth objectives.\n\nPrepare and update capability statements, presentations, and supporting bid documentation.\n\nWork with senior leadership to support commercial strategy, pricing approaches, and partnership development.\n\nRepresent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.\n\nSupport marketing and business development initiatives, including digital content and LinkedIn engagement.\n\nProvide regular reporting on pipeline activity, wins/losses, forecasts, and market intelligence.\n\nManage and develop relationships with OEM partners as UK channel representatives, including performance reporting and forecasting.\n\nTravel within the UK and occasionally internationally for client meetings, site visits, and industry engagement.\n\nBe flexible in working hours where required to meet client and project demands.\n\nMinimum Requirements:\n\nEducation: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related discipline ().\n\nExperience: 5+ years in business development, commercial, or sales roles within the UK/European energy, utilities, or engineering sectors.\n\nProven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.\n\nStrong understanding of UK energy infrastructure markets, including DNOs, ICPs, and data centre frameworks.\n\nSkills & Attributes:\n\nStrong client-facing and relationship management skills.\n\nExcellent negotiation and presentation abilities.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\n\nCommercially aware with the ability to interpret financial and tender documentation.\n\nProficient in MS Office, CRM systems, and LinkedIn for professional networking.\n\nAbility to work collaboratively across technical and commercial teams.\n\nExperience managing or mentoring team members is desirable.\n\nOther Requirements:\n\nMust be eligible to work in the UK.\n\nFull UK driving licence required.\n\nWillingness to travel as required across the UK and occasionally overseas.\n\nThis is an opportunity to join a growing and ambitious organisation operating at the forefront of UK energy infrastructure, where your contribution will directly shape future growth and success.\n\nThe salary is £50,000 to £70,000 plus benefits including bonus
