Chief Estimator – Electrical Construction

Role

The Chief Estimator will manage the day-to-day activities of the estimating and BIM departments.

 

Education & Experience

This position requires a Bachelor of Science in construction management, electrical engineering, or other education and experience by which an understanding of electrical systems has been gained. Ten (10) years of experience in electrical construction is as this is a leadership position.

 

Responsibilities

·         Create accurate and detailed cost estimates from concept, physical design and specifications

·         Assist with project budgeting and pursuit of opportunities

·         Utilize Pre-Estimate Outline for all estimates

·         Participate in estimate review and pricing approval processes

·         Request pricing from vendors listed on approved Purchasing Department list

·         Request pricing from subcontractors

·         Confirm accurate commodity pricing for estimates

·         Determine time budgets for estimates

·         Confirm correct labor units are being utilized

·         Attend Pre-bid project walk-thru

·         Print hard copies of project drawings and specifications

·         Participate in Estimator Daily Huddles & Weekly Meetings

·         Utilize Trimble suite of software solutions for preconstruction activities

·         Assist and participate with Project Presentations

·         Participate in Project Kickoff Meetings

·         Provide mentoring, training and accountability of the Trainees and Interns

·         Identify & implement prefab opportunities on a collaboratively with the construction team

·         Identify & implement strategies for LEAN Construction Delivery Methods

·         Assist with Change Order estimating

·         Prepare and finalize estimate letter or bid form for Project Manager to review

·         Participate in Post Project review(s)

·         Keep current with new construction technologies and practices

·         Lead Estimating Team currently at four

·         Lead BIM Team

·         Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work efficiently

·         Ability to review drawings and determine a time budget to complete an estimate with the required accuracy

·         The ability to constantly multi-task and handle multiple priorities between business needs, organizational issues and customer requests

·         Judgment to know when to appropriately escalate issues internally and externally

·         Knowledge of computer database management, Office 365, Trimble suite, Adobe / Bluebeam and P6

·         Must be hard working and have passion, integrity, and professionalism.

Physical Demands

·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear

·         The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and reach with arms and/or hands

·         Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

·         The employee will spend their time in an office environment with quiet to moderate noise level

·         The employee will be required to make frequent jobsite visits that will require the ability to walk, climb and navigate a construction site

 

Compensation & Location

This position will be based out of Northbrook, IL. This is a full-time position that is available for immediate hire. A meaningful compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate that will include a base salary, aggressive commission plan, monthly auto allowance, and comprehensive benefits.
