Commissioning Engineer

Job Description

Commissioning Engineer

Arlington, VA or Roanoke, VA | Employee-Owned Engineering Consultancy

Not every commissioning role is another data centre or commercial office building.

If you're a Mechanical or Electrical Commissioning Engineer looking to move beyond repetitive commercial projects and join a business that invests in its people, this is an opportunity worth exploring.

We're partnering with one of the most respected employee-owned engineering consultancies in the US to recruit a Commissioning Engineer. You'll join a collaborative team delivering complex, high-profile projects while benefiting from outstanding mentorship, career progression and exposure to a huge variety of building systems.

The hiring manager's focus isn't simply finding someone to fill a vacancy – they're looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career.

You'll be surrounded by experienced commissioning professionals, including engineers with decades of industry expertise who actively mentor junior team members through technical coaching, collaborative problem solving and day-to-day support.

The culture is open, supportive and team-oriented. Questions are encouraged, knowledge is shared freely and you'll always have access to experienced colleagues when tackling new challenges.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and support commissioning activities from design through project completion
  • Develop commissioning plans, checklists and functional test procedures
  • Review drawings, submittals and operation manuals
  • Witness equipment startup and system testing
  • Perform functional performance testing across mechanical and electrical systems
