Job Summary
As the Foreman, you will ultimately be responsible for leading underground construction crews, ensuring safe and efficient field operations, and delivering high-quality construction projects on schedule. You will coordinate daily field activities, oversee equipment operation, and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards. As the Foreman, your customers are internal construction teams, project managers, utility providers, and telecommunications clients, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company's success through operational leadership, safety compliance, and quality project execution.
Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)
- Manage and oversee the daily activities of assigned construction crews.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Operate heavy construction equipment including track hoes, backhoes, mini excavators, skid steers, dozers, haul trucks, and trenchers.
- Coordinate excavation, conduit installation, utility potholing, concrete placement, asphalt restoration, and related underground construction activities.
- Track project materials, equipment, and daily production while communicating project progress with management, customers, and stakeholders.
- Train, mentor, and support field crews while maintaining accurate project documentation and ensuring worksite restoration.
- Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs.
Required Qualifications
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- DOT Medical Card.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Competent Person Certification.
- Confined Space Training.
- Trench Safety Training.
- Pole Climbing & Ladder Safety Certification.
- Flagger Certification.
- Forklift Certification.
- First Aid/CPR Certification.
Experience
- Minimum five (5) years of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
- Experience leading underground telecommunications or utility construction crews.
- Experience reading blueprints and project specifications.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to safely supervise underground utility construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of excavation, conduit installation, utility locating, concrete, and asphalt restoration.
- Ability to operate company vehicles, bucket trucks, and heavy construction equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with crews, customers, and leadership.
- Strong leadership and crew management skills.
- Ability to maintain compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
Qualifications
- Bilingual English and Spanish.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and multiple field crews.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, push, pull, twist, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and active construction zones while maintaining visual and audible awareness.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, and other required safety gear.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
