Minimum qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, trade school certification, and/or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on Electrical, Mechanical/HVAC, or Controls/Automation experience in industrial/commercial environment.
  • Experience in daily operations of:
    • Fire, Life, Safety, and Security infrastructure systems.
    • Mechanical infrastructure systems.
    • Electrical infrastructure systems.
    • Automation and process control infrastructure systems.
  • Ability to participate in material handling tasks such as:
    • Lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 lbs.
    • Use of OSHA standard safety equipment such as mobile work platforms, ladders, step stools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to recognize Level of Risk (LOR) and respond appropriately to minimize impact of any potential incident.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and differing work rotations/shifts.

qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in Critical Environments working on and repairing:
    • Fire, Life, Safety, and Security infrastructure systems.
    • Mechanical infrastructure systems.
    • Electrical infrastructure systems.
    • Automation and process control infrastructure systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment (e.g., MV Distribution, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, and CRAC/CRAH units).
  • Knowledge of and belief in a rigorous Change Management Process: MOPs, SOPs, EOPs.

About the job:

Critical Facilities Technicians (CFT) at Altum Digital Infrastructure (ADI) data centers will operate, monitor and repair physical facility equipment and conditions. Some of these duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power distribution, generators, UPS systems, and control/monitoring systems. You will regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as wiring, piping, components and non-critical systems. Advocate for best practices, you develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You will ensure that all environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you will manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems such as MV Distribution, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, Chillers, Air handling units, and CRAC/CRAH units. 
  • Manage the uptime and maintenance of water pumps and treatment systems, HVAC, UPS, generators, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems.
  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment.
  • Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $22.00-$54.00 per hour + benefits. Within the range, an individual’s pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
