SCHEDULE: Thursday through Sunday 8pm to 6:30 am
Job Summary:
The Data Center Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of data center infrastructure, including servers, cabling, and networking equipment. The role involves coordinating with vendors, ensuring operational efficiency, and adhering to industry standards in a fast-paced data center environment.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate power, cabling, and procurement activities with vendors/suppliers such as QTS, Digital Realty, and Data Bank.
• Collaborate internally with network and deployment teams on connectivity requirements.
• Deploy, support, and maintain data center infrastructure including structured cabling, servers, and networking hardware.
• Remove decommissioned assets and perform cable cleanup.
• Maintain and update inventory and asset management databases.
• Follow proper cabling and labeling standards as per organization guidelines.
Core Skills (Must-Haves):
• Installation, removal, and maintenance of servers, cabling, and networking equipment
• Experience with fiber optic technologies and structured cabling, including testing and remediation
• Ability to diagnose hardware faults and layer one connectivity issues
• Knowledge of data center rack power and connectivity requirements
• Knowledge of operational support for enterprise data centers
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Ability to lift and move approximately 50 lbs.
Foundational Skills (Expected):
• Familiarity with data center infrastructure management tools (DCIM, CMDB)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Experience using ticketing systems such as Jira and ServiceNow
Bonus Skills (Nice-to-Haves):
• Data center design and engineering experience
• Experience with data center infrastructure projects (e.g., fiber trunk cabling)
