POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a Data Center Operations & COMSEC Manager to support mission-critical infrastructure operations and communications security (COMSEC) within a secure, classified data center. This role is responsible for maintaining continuous system availability, overseeing day-to-day operations, and ensuring compliance with DoD and U.S. Government security standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in systems administration and data center management, with proven experience leading Tier 2–3 troubleshooting and asset management in high-security environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

  • Provide day-to-day Tier 2–3 operations and maintenance support for data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, and networking systems.
  • Perform physical data center activities such as racking, cabling, power distribution, and environmental monitoring to ensure uptime and safety compliance.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, troubleshoot outages and hardware/software anomalies, and coordinate timely resolution with cross-functional teams.
  • Manage asset inventories, license compliance, and configuration documentation using tools such as ServiceNow or BMC Remedy.
  • Support change, configuration, and incident management processes, including system testing, validation, and root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain compliance readiness for SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, and DISA STIG standards, ensuring accurate documentation and audit trails.
  • Serve as COMSEC Custodian, managing government-provisioned materials and ensuring adherence to NSA and DoD security protocols.
  • Enforce U.S. Government and DoD security practices, including oversight of cleared personnel and classified site access.
  • Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, and facilities teams to forecast capacity, plan infrastructure upgrades, and implement best practices for continuous system availability.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Industrial, Computer Science, or Information Technology (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree).
  • 4+ years IT/data center experience with a mix of systems administration, troubleshooting, and Tier 2–3 maintenance.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • VMware vSphere / ESXi, Windows and Linux systems, Dell EMC or comparable storage platforms, and Cisco network infrastructure.
  • Monitoring and management tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, and ServiceNow.
  • Proven experience supporting classified U.S. Government programs.
  • Direct, recent experience in Iron Mountain's Pennsylvania Data Center operations.
  • Strong proficiency in ticketing systems, diagnostics, and system documentation.
  • Ability to assess and forecast resource utilization and capacity in data center environments.
  • Must complete Government-provided COMSEC training within six (6) months of hire.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications such as:
    • Data Center Operations: EPI CDCP, CDCS, or CDCFM
    • IT Service Management & Governance: ITIL v4, COBIT 5 Foundation
    • Cybersecurity & Networking: CompTIA Security+ or Network+
  • Experience supporting mission-critical classified or federal data centers, especially within the DoD or Intelligence Community (IC).
  • Familiarity with environmental and facilities systems (UPS, CRAC, PDUs, BMS).
  • Experience preparing for or responding to SOC2, ISO 27001, or FedRAMP audits.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or participate in Major Incident Management and root cause analysis.
