Data Center Technician

Our client, a global leader in mission-critical facilities and data centre services, is seeking a Data Centre Technician to join their expanding team in Farnborough. The Role

The Data Centre Technician will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), corrective repairs, and reactive tasks across a range of M&E and critical systems. Working as part of an on-site engineering team, you will help ensure the availability, safety, and compliance of all building services and critical infrastructure, while maintaining strong working relationships with both colleagues and third-party contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform PPM, reactive and corrective maintenance on critical M&E systems.
• Conduct site inspections, meter readings, and equipment checks (UPS, PDUs, BMS, HVAC, and utilities).
• Respond to alarms and emergencies promptly, carrying out fault diagnosis and repairs.
• Support and supervise third-party contractors, ensuring compliance with safety and service standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, incidents, and remedial works.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and compliance procedures while ensuring audit readiness.

Candidate Profile

• Technical training with an apprenticeship, NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification.
• 1–2 years’ experience in building services, facilities, or critical environments.
• Knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems (UPS, power distribution, HVAC).
• Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to follow established procedures.
