As Data Center Specialist I, you will provide data center administration and hardware support for on-premises environments. Your responsibilities will include daily operational support for various networks, planning, installing, and supporting hardware. This position will also respond to customer tickets to resolve technical issues associated with network and routing protocols at all levels of the OSI model through the use of diagnostics and network administration tools. Additionally, in this position you will:
- Install and replace network appliances such as firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Install cabling according to cabling diagrams and elevations
- Perform interactive tasks such as component swaps (Hard Drives, RAM, Fans), basic ILO/DRAC configurations and reboots.
- Perform “rack and stack” functions
- Assist with incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Patch, label, and test copper (Cat X) and fiber optic (SMF/MMF/MPO) cables.
- Proactively check on rack and cage conditions, flag any issues that require attention.
- Respond to customer tickets with professionalism and communicate complex technical information to various audiences
- Contribute to the development and documentation of processes and aid implementation.
- Assist with the organization and tracking of data center equipment inventory.
- Document all work performed via a ticketing system, provide necessary customer documentation.
- Perform other duties and special projects as needed
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Work hours are Sat/Sun 9am-5pm; Mon-Wed 3pm-10pm
