Job Description1st Step Solutions are supporting a leading M&E contractor who have an opportunity for a Design Manager on a permanent basis based in London.

Our client delivers complex engineering solutions across data centres, building services, energy and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

    \n
  • To act as the company’s senior electrical engineer supporting projects from estimation through to construction and commissioning.
  • \n

  • Development and compliance with electrical engineering standards
  • \n

  • Review existing quality and commissioning systems / procedures and update in line with project and industry requirements
  • \n

  • Support the estimation and supply chain teams during the tendering process to identify opportunities for value engineering, innovation and modern methods of construction.
  • \n

  • Support the preconstruction teams in assuring that the design phase is executed to a high quality and in a timely manner.
  • \n

  • Oversight of external design partners to assure the quality of the engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle
  • \n

  • On-site support throughout the project lifecycle, e.g. technical submissions, drawing reviews, BIM model development, client reviews.
  • \n

  • Oversee quality assurance processes on project testing and commissioning.
  • \n

  • Support the development of graduate and junior engineers
  • \n

  • Support the aftercare team in fault-finding and rectifying warranty defects.
  • \n

  • Manage the implementation of the DG Gold Standard quality assurance process on projects including auditing of installations and subcontractor performance, including:
  • \n

  • Assist with development of project specific quality plans.
  • \n

  • Work in conjunction with the company’s senior authorised person for electrical installations including both LV/HV systems.
  • \n

  • Ensure compliance with our electrical systems management procedures.
  • \n

  • Ensure full compliance with BS7671 latest edition. 
  • \n

  • Review design and installation for compliance and safety
  • \n

  • Ensure continuity and compliance with NICEIC requirements to maintain our accreditation
  • \n

Knowledge /Qualifications:

    \n
  • HNC or Degree in electrical engineering or building services, with electrical bias.
  • \n

  • Experience as an electrician/ supervisor/ manager.
  • \n

  • Strong understanding of electrical systems from a design and construction perspective
  • \n

  • Good knowledge of the current electrical, fire alarm and emergency lighting standards.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of electrical subcontract works - lighting control, fire alarms and PA systems.
  • \n

  • Ability to read drawings and understand technical papers and documents.
  • \n

  • Able to create technical documents, comment on technical drawings and assist in engineering solutions and design.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of ESSOW compliance processes.
  • \n

  • 18th Edition IEE wiring regulations certified
  • \n
