Job Summary: Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development is responsible for identifying and developing relationships with end-users, developers, specifying engineers, installing fire protection contractors, key industry associations, sprinkler fitter training facilities, and adjacent strategic partners in targeted markets (e.g., Advanced Manufacturing, Data Centers, eCommerce Fulfillment (i.e., Warehousing & Logistics), & Industrial). This role will identify new market opportunities, develop and maintain strategic partnerships and enhance Reliable's market presence.
Location: North America, Remote
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Strategic Growth Management
- Define and identify all key value chain stakeholders including end-users, specifying engineers, developers, contractors and outside influencers. Drive relationship building within that value chain.
- Map out and optimize the Reliable value chain (from original specifications to equipment solutions to end user installation and commissioning) to identify and improve stakeholder critical requirements and speed to market.
- Identify critical requirements in each target market, market size and CAGR in support of Reliable targeted growth objectives.
- Strategic Partnerships
- Cultivate and optimize key end-market association involvement, sprinkler fitter training organizations (union and merit based), strategic equipment and service adjacencies in fire protection systems.
- Represent Reliable at industry events as requested (AFSA, NFPA, NFSA, SFPE, etc.).
- Sales Team, Product Technology and Marketing Collaboration and Support
- This role will drive for increased basis of design (BOD) specification for Reliable's products in target end markets, with key end users, engineering firms and specifiers.
- Collaborate with and support Reliable sales team opportunity pipeline for upcoming projects, locations, scope of work, construction schedules, project pricing.
- Train and utilize Reliable sales team with obtaining Voice of Customer (VoC) feedback from the field in support of new market and product development
- Collaborate with and support Sales, Product Technology and Marketing with learning and maximizing utilization of the Dynamics 365 CRM platform.
- Provide support as needed with Marketing department lead , website content, social media platforms, trade show/conference attendance, and rich content placement with key industry publications.
- Travel as needed domestically and, if needed, internationally to assist in securing opportunities.
- New Market and Product Development
- This role will define and drive Reliable product's value proposition and competitive differentiation in the target end markets established for the organization's growth strategy.
- Work closely with Engineering and New Product Development to provide input on new products and product improvements. Integrate target end-market research with Voice of Customer (VoC) interviews to support new product development business cases.
- Assist in presenting and reporting new business cases to Reliable management.
- This role will support new product launches, deployment to sales team, go-to-market strategies, and work on writing those project plans to present to Reliable management.
- 80/20 – Commercial Excellence
- Collaborate with and support Reliable management with top revenue generating product and customer prioritization.
- Ensure proper alignment of above with targeted end-market and growth objectives.
- Formalize any 80/20 principles and processes where appropriate.
- Support the enterprise with potential merger/acquisition commercial diligence and analysis.

- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Skills:
- Knowledge of all types of fire sprinkler systems as well as design and installation practices.
- Strong presentation skills, including the ability to present to large groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software and Dynamics 365.
Work Environment:
- Remote based, home office. Visits to Reliable factory and office locations as needed to meet job and company objectives.
- Promote a safe workplace by performing all tasks in a safe and thoughtful manner in compliance with all rules, procedures, instructions, devices, equipment and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Maintain vigilance for any hazardous conditions or practices in the workplace and immediately report any unsafe conditions or practice to your supervisor.

Physical Demands:
- Ability to be punctual and attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
- Regular travel by car, truck, and air.
- Ability to occasionally lift parts with weights up to 50 lbs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- 15+years in the fire protection industry
