Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Business Development with deep expertise in the civil engineering, architecture, and/or construction industries to lead our firm’s strategic growth initiatives. This executive role is responsible for shaping long-term business strategy, building new client relationships, and expanding our market opportunities, particularly in the data center sector. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing key relationships, winning work in the civil engineering, architecture, and/or construction industries. This role is instrumental in identifying new business opportunities, strengthening client engagement, and supporting the firm’s long-term growth objectives.
Strategic Growth & Market Development
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with firm-wide goals in engineering and architecture markets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in public and private sectors in the market.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging markets to position the firm competitively.
Client Development & Relationship Management
- Cultivate and manage key relationships with clients, partners, agencies, developers, and government entities.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary contact for high-value clients.
- Oversee development of proposals, RFQs/RFPs, and presentations in collaboration leadership.
- Guide project pursuit strategies and ensure alignment with client needs and firm capabilities.
Collaboration & Team Leadership
- Work closely with Principals, Project Managers, and Market Sector Leaders to align business development efforts with operational goals.
- Foster a collaborative culture that supports knowledge-sharing and cross-selling among disciplines.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architecture, Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA or Masters in Engineering or Architecture .
- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in a related field, with at least 5 years in a strategic or business development role withing the industry.
- Proven ability to lead and win complex pursuits and strategic partnerships.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Existing network in the data center ecosystem (developers, owners, engineering firms, utilities).
