Overview

Our customer is seeking an experienced Director of Health & Safety to lead its corporate safety and risk management program across telecom construction operations. This individual will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving safety initiatives to ensure a safe, compliant, and incident-free work environment.

The Safety Director will collaborate closely with executive leadership, field teams, and safety personnel to drive proactive safety practices, reduce risk exposure, and enhance organizational safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the company-wide safety program across all construction operations
  • Conduct and support safety inspections to ensure job sites remain hazard-free
  • Provide guidance and support to Safety Managers, Construction Managers, and field teams
  • Analyze incident data, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Develop strategies to reduce insurance claims and overall risk exposure
  • Support worker’s compensation processes, including claims investigation and resolution
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations
  • Maintain and oversee safety documentation, reporting, and training records
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs across all levels of the organization
  • Review subcontractor safety programs and prequalification documentation
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and compliance audits
  • Oversee fleet safety programs, including driver qualification and monitoring
  • Collaborate with leadership to improve safety culture and operational performance
  • Maintain strong communication with executive leadership regarding safety initiatives and risks
  • Represent the organization in industry safety groups and initiatives
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of safety experience in construction, preferably telecom construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, safety management, environmental science, occupational health, or related field
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and worker’s compensation regulations
  • Proven ability to lead safety programs across multiple job sites
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools

Qualifications

  • Direct experience in telecom construction environments
  • Experience working with insurance carriers and managing experience modifiers
  • Background in risk management and cost containment strategies

Work Environment / Additional Information

  • Approximately 30% travel to various project sites
  • Combination of office and field-based work
  • Regular interaction with executive leadership and field teams
