The Director of IT, under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, is responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of various gaming systems to support a casino, hotel, and gaming environment, including servers, interfaces, PC workstations, gaming equipment, hotel equipment, and associated software. The position and the CIO recommend, set, and implement IT initiatives and organizational standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
- Work with the CIO and Kewadin CEO to set the technology strategy.
- Provide critical input to the Kewadin CEO regarding gaming systems and data integrity issues.
- Review and recommends changes to existing Kewadin IT strategy to the CIO and Kewadin CEO based on trend analysis, capacity and overall system health.
- Work closely and coordinates efforts with all other IT senior management to support organization wide standards, strategy, security policy and processes and shared projects and initiatives.
- Create and manage the annual technology budget for Kewadin specific environment and works with CIO on overall IT budget administration and all shared project/initiative planning and budgeting.
- Work closely with vendors and contractors to ensure equipment and services meet requirements and specifications.
- Ensure the gaming systems, non-gaming systems, and data center facilities are operating at optimal performance and prepared for outages and/or disaster recovery.
- Manage and control the activities of the gaming IT team and/or coordinates with the other departments for effective resolution of system problems and/or outages.
- Coordinate technology change management to ensure that all physical changes occurring on systems are properly documented and managed in accordance with MICS, TICS, and best practices.
- Manage, supervise and mentor gaming team members about shift work, responsibilities, performance and Gaming/Hospitality operations IT best practices.
- Strive to provide the best customer service to our end users through an in-depth knowledge of their needs and quality IT best practices.
- Provide administration of the computer hardware and software of the area assigned.
- Manage the technical staff to support the technological needs of the gaming environment; i.e. hires, fires, disciplinary actions, completes performance evaluations and approves leave.
- Maintain project management oversight of assigned casino and hotel technology projects.
- Maintain the security of the gaming environment's information technology resources and proper redundancy.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes, but is not limited to, the following)
- Ensure that necessary levels of expertise exist and that, where necessary, training is planned for and carried out for gaming team members on Kewadin Casino systems.
- Maintain on-going knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
- Provide technical guidance to staff based on personal knowledge and research.
- Provide updates monthly to executive management on ongoing processes and implementations of updates and additional applications.
- All other job-related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position light primarily sitting and lifting a maximum of 50 pounds. Physical factors include constant use of near vision and typing; frequent walking, sitting, kneeling, use of midrange/ vision; and occasional standing, carrying/lifting, pushing/pulling, climbing, stooping, crawling, reaching, manual handling, use of hearing, smell, far vision, depth perception, field of vision, occasional travel and bending. Working conditions include occasional exposure to extreme heat and noise. Potential hazards include constant computer and equipment use and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, electric shock and client contact.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Business or Technology related field required, or five years demonstrated ability in relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
Experience: A minimum of five years of experience working in the Computer Information Science or Computer Technology field is required. Three years of supervisory experience is required, in addition to the above-stated requirements.
Certification/License: Must undergo a criminal background investigation done under the rules of the Indian Gaming Commission. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department. Must comply with annual driver's license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge
- Gaming & Hospitality IT: In-depth understanding of IT systems and infrastructure specific to the gaming and hospitality industry, including accounting, slot machine management systems, table games, point-of-sale, hotel property management systems, and security systems. Knowledge of gaming & hospitality business operations.
- Data Center and Network Operations: Strong knowledge of data center architecture, network design principles, and network security protocols.
- Cybersecurity: Understanding of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation strategies to ensure data protection and regulatory compliance.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex IT projects on time and within budget.
- Budgeting and Finance: Knowledge of budgeting principles and financial management to effectively manage the IT department's budget.
- Regulatory Compliance: Deep understanding of gaming industry regulations related to IT systems and data security.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of the business goals and objectives of the casino and hotel company to strategically align IT initiatives.
