Electrical Designer | Ogden, Utah

Nexeo is seeking experienced Electrical Designers to join an innovative engineering team in Ogden, Utah, supporting the U.S. Air Force’s Sentinel (formerly GBSD) program. This is a high-impact opportunity to contribute to the modernization of the nation’s ground-based nuclear deterrent while designing complex electrical systems for mission-critical defense infrastructure. In this role, you will develop 3D and 2D electrical designs, create installation and construction documents, perform system calculations, and collaborate across engineering disciplines. The position is ideal for motivated designers who thrive in fast-paced, technically challenging environments and are eager to mentor junior team members. This role is 100% onsite and offers paid overtime, every other Friday off, and relocation support for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

Develop 3D electrical designs using SmartPlant 3D and 2D drawings with AutoCAD and SmartSketch. Model electrical rooms, equipment, cable trays, conduit systems, lighting, receptacles, grounding, and lightning protection systems. Prepare installation details, bills of materials, and material specifications using SmartSketch, AutoCAD, and SpecsIntact. Perform lighting and ground grid layout calculations using AGI 32 and ETAP. Support 3D model coordination and resolve interferences across multiple engineering disciplines. Collaborate with systems engineering to validate design requirements. Ensure compliance with NEC, NEMA, ANSI, and IEEE standards and industry best practices. Mentor and train junior designers to build team capability. Produce physical layout drawings, including conduit/cable tray/duct bank raceways, equipment locations, lighting, grounding, and lightning protection.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications U.S. Citizenship required (for facility access and security clearance eligibility). Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening, including marijuana testing. High School diploma or equivalent (Associate degree ). 9+ years of electrical design experience (or 5+ with Associate degree). Proficiency with 3D CAD tools for electrical design, including SmartPlant 3D. Experience using SETROUTE or other electronic cable management systems. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, layouts, and industry standards (NEC, NEMA, ANSI, IEEE). Experience preparing electrical designs for nuclear, industrial, data center, or utility plant projects. Familiarity with Bechtel corporate guides, standards, and engineering deliverables. Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience coordinating with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders. Familiarity with ISO-9000 or similar quality assurance procedures. Experience modeling piping, HVAC, and mechanical equipment in SmartPlant 3D. Qualifications Active Secret Security Clearance. Hands-on experience with SmartSketch for electrical design deliverables. Prior experience supporting DoD, DoE, USACE, NAVFAC, USAF, or NASA projects.
