Project Electrical Estimator
Location: Tampa Bay, FL

Position Overview
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates for large-scale commercial, industrial, and data center projects. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and collaboration across project management, field, and engineering teams to ensure successful bid preparation and project handoff.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits to assess project scope and conditions.
- Prepare detailed electrical estimates by identifying labor, material, and equipment costs.
- Review and analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop complete electrical take-offs.
- Utilize estimating platforms such as Accubid Anywhere, LiveCount, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel to prepare proposals.
- Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations for accuracy and competitiveness.
- Apply NECA labor units, factoring in job-specific productivity and manpower conditions.
- Participate in value engineering to optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality.
- Reference and maintain historical cost data and unit price databases.
- Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and engineering teams during bidding and project handoff.
- Maintain organized, auditable estimate documentation and track win/loss ratios for continuous improvement.
- Communicate bid clarifications, scope breakdowns, and assumptions effectively to stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience:
8–10 years with an electrical contractor, estimating large commercial, industrial, or institutional projects.
Education:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field ( but not required).
Software Proficiency:
Accubid (preferably Accubid Anywhere), LiveCount, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC codes, NECA labor units, and construction methodologies.
Skills:
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and specifications.
- Strong written, verbal, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple bids and meet tight deadlines.
Experience:
Design-Build, GMP, or negotiated projects; healthcare or data center projects.
Additional Requirements
- U.S. ; eligible for E-Verify.
- Clean background and ability to pass a drug test.
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
