Job Description
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
Data Centre Electrical Systems Leadership
Full ownership of the Data Centre Electrical Package, including:
- HV/MV/LV Power Distribution
- Generators, fuel systems, and paralleling controls
- UPS systems, battery rooms, and static switchgear
- Earthing, lightning protection, and power quality
- Critical lighting and emergency systems
Electrical Construction & Site Execution
- Manage day-to-day electrical site operations within a live or phased Data Centre environment
- Coordinate electrical installation sequencing to support critical path activities
- Lead electrical subcontractors, including weekly coordination meetings, manpower planning, and productivity tracking
- Manage electrical testing, integrated systems testing (IST), commissioning, and handover
- Lead electrical design coordination with the Design Manager, consultants, vendors, and the client
- Manage OFCI electrical equipment (generators, UPS, switchgear) and vendor interfaces
- Ensure compliance with mission-critical standards, project specifications, and approved benchmarks
- Prepare and issue weekly electrical cost and progress reports, highlighting risks to availability, power-on milestones, and client handover dates
Programme & Commercial Control (Electrical Scope)
- Own and manage the electrical programme, aligned with the overall Data Centre delivery schedule
Full responsibility for electrical cost control, including:
- Electrical labour and specialist subcontractors
- Electrical materials, plant, and temporary power
- Variations, valuations, and final account support
Procurement & Reporting
- Prepare electrical subcontractor and supplier tender packages in collaboration with the Project QS
- Schedule and track long-lead electrical equipment deliveries (generators, UPS, switchgear)
- Produce internal and client-facing electrical progress reports, identifying design gaps, third-party interfaces, and programme constraints
Leadership & Project Close-Out
- Lead, mentor, and develop the electrical site team in a Data Centre environment
- Drive full electrical close-out, including:
- O&M manuals and as-built documentation
- Electrical QA and safety files
- Snag and punch-list resolution
- Support for power-on, IST, and client handover
- Maintain a weekly electrical photographic progress diary
