The Opportunity
The Electrical Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting and enforcing all electrical safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) activities across site operations. This role serves as a dedicated resource focused exclusively on electrical safety compliance, coordination, and risk mitigation on a daily basis. Reporting directly to the Site HSE Manager and working closely with the Energy Marshal, the Electrical Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in maintaining safe work practices, supporting energized work planning, and ensuring operational readiness through effective coordination and communication.
This position is highly field-oriented and requires strong situational awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and safety personnel. While this role is focused specifically on electrical safety and LOTO coordination, it may provide future growth opportunities into broader Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) leadership or Engineering Management (EM) roles.
What You Will Do
- Coordinate and oversee daily electrical safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) activities across site operations.
- Support the implementation, enforcement, and continuous improvement of electrical safety procedures, standards, and documentation.
- Review, verify, and coordinate LOTO plans, switching procedures, and isolation activities to ensure compliance with site and regulatory requirements.
- Partner closely with operations, maintenance teams, contractors, and the Energy Marshal to support safe execution of electrical work.
- Conduct field observations, audits, inspections, and hazard assessments focused specifically on electrical safety risks.
- Monitor energized work activities and support safe work planning and execution.
- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action tracking related to electrical safety events or near misses.
- Support and participate in daily work briefings, pre-task planning meetings, and safety coordination activities.
- Maintain accurate records of LOTO activities, inspections, audits, permits, and electrical safety documentation.
- Identify and communicate electrical hazards, unsafe conditions, or compliance gaps to site leadership.
- Assist in delivering electrical safety and LOTO training for employees and contractors.
- Support compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other applicable electrical safety regulations and standards.
- Stay informed on industry best practices, evolving electrical safety standards, and operational safety improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Electrical Technology, Industrial Safety, or a related field (required).
- Relevant technical diploma, trade certification, or equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
- Working knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively in operational environments.
Certifications ( but Not Required)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction or General Industry
- NFPA 70E Training
- First Aid/CPR
- Electrical safety or energy isolation certifications
- Entry-level safety certifications (e.g., CHST, OHST, GSP, or equivalent)
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience supporting electrical safety, LOTO coordination, or field safety operations in data center, construction, manufacturing, industrial, or energy environments.
- Experience supporting energized work planning, switching procedures, and electrical permitting processes.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E standards, and electrical safe work practices.
- Experience conducting safety observations, field audits, and compliance inspections.
- Ability to work in fast-paced operational environments while maintaining strong attention to detail and procedural compliance.
