Electrical Shift Engineer

Job Description

Purpose of the Job\n\n• To deliver electrical maintenance and operational support within a critical data centre environment, ensuring maximum uptime and compliance.\n• To work as part of a shift team maintaining electrical infrastructure across a 24/7 operation.\n• To support both reactive and planned maintenance activities while developing toward HV Authorised Person status.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n• Operate on a 12-hour shift pattern (2 days / 2 nights / 4 off).\n• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical works within a live data centre.\n• Support and maintain critical electrical infrastructure including LV systems, with training toward HV systems.\n• Respond effectively to alarms, faults, and emergency situations.\n• Accurately complete shift logs, handover reports, permits, and compliance documentation.\n• Work in accordance with site procedures, safety rules, and critical environment protocols.\n• Support ongoing training and development, including progression to HVAP status.\n\nPersonal Experience / Qualifications / Skills\n\n• Strong electrical background within critical or commercial environments.\n• Previous experience working in a data centre or other critical environment preferred.\n• Understanding of shift working and reactive maintenance.\n• Strong awareness of health & safety and permit-to-work systems.\n• Willingness to train toward HV Authorised Person (HVAP) status.\n\nWorking Hours & Salary Package\n\n• Shift pattern: 12-hour shifts – 2 days / 2 nights / 4 off\n• Base salary: £41,000\n• Shift allowance: 13% (£5,330)\n• Total package: £46,330\n• Additional £1,500 upon attaining HVAP status\n\nAccountabilities\n\n• Accountable to the Shift Supervisor / Engineering Manager.\n• No direct line management responsibility.\n• Responsible for maintaining uptime, safety, and compliance within the data centre environment
