Engineering Manager

Our client, a leading international provider of critical facilities and data centre services, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to oversee operations within a mission-critical environment in Croydon. This role is responsible for leading site engineering activities, ensuring compliance, and delivering best-in-class service in line with contractual agreements.

 

The Role

The Engineering Manager will manage the day-to-day operation of engineering teams, overseeing planned and reactive maintenance across all building services systems. The successful candidate will act as an Authorised Person for HV/LV operations, supervise subcontractors, and ensure all engineering activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with health, safety, and quality standards. This role combines technical leadership, operational oversight, and client engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise planned preventive and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Act as an Authorised Person for HV/LV systems, producing safe operating procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records across H&S, compliance, and quality assurance.
  • Manage the Permit to Work system and ensure compliance with H&S processes.
  • Prepare and review Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Support client relationships, maintaining a professional and collaborative approach.
  • Deliver contractual KPI and SLA requirements, ensuring audit readiness.
  • Ensure asset data and CAFM systems are updated and accurate.
  • Review, prepare, and present technical reports, proposals, and findings.
  • Support senior management in financial awareness, planning, and project delivery.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Extensive experience in critical environment management, ideally data centres.
  • HV qualification with Authorised Person status (HV/LV).
  • Strong background in electrical and mechanical building services.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills.
  • Financially aware, with experience managing budgets and resources.
  • Proficient in CAFM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
